Don’t Forget the Annual Catalogue – Beautiful Peaceful Boughs Christmas Card. Seriously, I have never seen anything like it, the retiring items from the August to December Catalogue are selling so quickly I can hardly keep up. I certainly can’t plan on using any of the items in the projects I am bringing to you if I want you to be able to buy the items. So, with that in mind, I am looking at the Annual Catalogue now for any Christmas projects. Although we are now past the likely last day to order in time for Christmas, so this is more about using what you may already have.
Today’s project is one design executed in 2 different ways. One uses mostly stamping with a little bit of die cutting, the other uses mostly die cutting with a little bit of stamping. I would love to know which you prefer.
The first is the mostly stamping version. Using just Soft Seafoam and Sahara Sand with White, you get a really soft, elegant Christmas Card. I love the look of this card, and need to look at using Sahara Sand more. I hadn’t realised just what a fantastic colour it is. It is that great colour that is not quite grey, but not quite brown. The Sentiment, which is the same on both projects, is stamped in Sahara Sand and then die cut using the smaller of the 2 label dies in the die set. The White label is the size of the die, but the Sahara Sand layer has been stretched a little to allow the label to ‘pop’ off the card. I added White Crinkled Seam Binding to the labels and added a bow to one side. There is a full tutorial of how to do this in the Video below.
The finishing touch is some Elegant Faceted Gems. These are a wonderful Embellishment, adding the most subtle ‘something’. The pictures show the version using the frosted gems, in the video I elected to use the clear ones. The clear ones are a great addition to any project as they pick up the colour they are added to, so can be used on any project you want.
The die cut version of the card has double layered die cuts. The card is Soft Seafoam and Sahara Sand again, but I added Silver over the Soft Seafoam and Champagne over the Sahara Sand. I used the Champagne foil for the layer behind the sentiment. Although I added the same ribbon, this time I had coloured it using the Dark Soft Seafoam Stampin’ Blend. It is only a subtle difference, but worth it I think. I decided not to add the gems to this card, there was enough ‘bling’ from the foils.
