Quick and Easy Heartwarming Hugs Tin for The Spot #137. As it is Tuesday, it is time for another The Spot Challenge, which this week is a Colour Challenge. It is a great selection of colours, especially as these are the colours in the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper, which means there is a really easy option for this week’s designs.
As I am continuing my Handmade Christmas series, and I wanted a really quick project, I decided to use one of the Round Tins from the August – December Mini Catalogue. I have had these for a few weeks, but not actually used any of them, so it was about time. After a little checking I then discovered that the largest of the Layering Circle Dies cover the clear area of the tin perfectly, so I die cut the largest Scallop Circle from Red Foil and the largest Straight Edged Circle from one of the none directional patterns of the Designer Series Paper.
I wasn’t sure what to put over the patterned paper, but then discovered that one of the sentiments in the Wrapped in Christmas sentiments was exactly the right size to fit the 1″ Slot on the Pick a Punches. So, I stamped the sentiment in Real Red, punched the ends with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch and layered it on another punched piece, this time in Red Foil. To help it to stand out, I die cut one of the stitched circles from the Warm Wraps Dies. It would be very simple to substitute the circle with one from the Layering Circles, or the Stitched Shapes.
At this stage I was very happy with the look of the top of the tin, but the sides looked very stark by comparison. I grabbed a dressmakers tape measure and found that the tin bases are exactly 12″, so it was very simple to cut a 3/4″ strip of Designer Series Paper, wrap it around the tin and adhere both ends to the tin. That made me happy!
Now it is your turn. The Spot Design Team want to see your projects using these colours. You can hop over to our website to see all the inspiration pieces and then add yours. To find the Website, either click on the Challenge Picture at the top of this post, or HERE.
