Facebook Live Replay – 24th November 2020 – Snowflake Splendour and Stitched Stars. What a strange Facebook Live we had yesterday! I mean the Live was not strange as such, but there was a problem with the Stampin’ Up! Online ordering system, which meant that for about 5 hours Customers were unable to place any orders for items from the Annual Catalogue. Not a great start to the day as it was the Merry & Bright Promotion. It eventually got sorted about, but I kept checking during the Live event, just in case!
But that is all gone now, so let’s look at what I made! I was pairing the Snowflake Splendour Designer Series Paper with the Stitched Stars dies, from the Annual Catalogue. The sentiments all came from the Itty Bitty Christmas set, also from the Annual Catalogue. You would think I chose them deliberately to tie in with the Merry & Bright Promotion. I wish I had actually thought of that, but it was pure fluke that it happened.
Metallic Mesh Card
The first card I made used a couple of pieces of the Metallic Mesh Ribbon from the Magic in This Night Suite of products. It is such a great, lightweight, way to add some amazing sparkle to a card. Add some Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper and some Blue Adhesive Backed Gems for even more sparkle. The Gems are a great way to hide adhesive, which, as I added a layer of Vellum over the Snowflake Splendour Designer Series Paper, was important. Although, that said, because I used our Multi Purpose Liquid Adhesive, once it dries there is not too much showing through.
The sentiment uses one of my favourite Heat Embossing Techniques; any colour Heat Embossing. I chose Balmy Blue Ink, to match the Glimmer Paper and Gems. The key is to ink up your stamp with Versamark first, and then to add the colour. This means that the Versamark will slow the speed the Classic Ink dries at and gives sufficient time to sprinkle Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder on. Just apply heat to get this amazing shine.
Lots of Love at Christmas
My second card was originally going to be on a Misty Moonlight card base, but I changed my mind and decided Night of Navy would look better. I think I made the right choice. This is actually a really easy card to make, especially if you use Adhesive Sheets on the reverse of the Glimmer Paper. I was very brave, and stamped the sentiment straight onto the Designer Series Paper, although I did chose a curved sentiment, so there was no worry about stamping straight. I am not that foolish, especially on a Facebook Live! The ink was Night of Navy to help tie everything together.
By adding the Glimmer Paper die Cuts the card is taken from a really simple card to a whole other level. Popping the Stitched Star up on Dimensionals adds something extra too. Unfortunately, Dimensionals and a Gem does mean this would be a Large Letter in the UK (or a local, hand delivered, card!
Believe in Rainbows!
I wanted my next card to be quite simple, while still being stunning. I die cut the star swirl from the purple area of the Rainbow Glimmer Paper. This time I didn’t put any Adhesive Sheet on the reverse, so stuck the die cuts on with Multi Purpose Liquid Adhesive. Just a few spots at the end of the swirls and then on the more solid areas is enough to keep everything in place. I used Highland Heather Card and Ink to tie the die cut and paper together a bit. The ‘believe’ tucked into the swirls is such a subtle addition, but with the star above the ‘i’, is the perfect addition.
The popped up stars are simply the ones from the swirl, so using them on the same card seemed the right thing to do. I did think about adding all, or at least some of them, flat to the Designer Series Paper, but am really happy with them popped up.
Falling Snowflakes
The final card is another straightforward, but effective card. This uses the same die cut as the previous card, but this time in Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper, with Adhesive Sheet behind. Because I knew I was going to use the Winter Snow Embossing Folder, I didn’t want the Glimmer Paper to overwhelm it. Wit this in mind, I had decided to add all of the die cut pieces straight onto the vellum layer.
Adding the embossing to the Vellum makes it much easier to adhere to the Balmy Blue mat. The Multi Purpose Liquid Glue pretty much disappears behind the more solid areas of embossing. Had that not worked, then adding the stars would have been a perfect way of hiding the adhesive.
