Facebook Live Replay – 10th November 2020 – Snowflake Wishes. It was so good to get back into the Studio today after a day of feeling a little too sorry for myself. I am happy to say that my knee is feeling a bit better and I am sure in a few days it will be back to normal. My Running tights however, not so much, they are going to need some repair. But enough of my tumble, let’s look at what we got up to yesterday at the Coffee & Cards Facebook Live.
I started by getting the background for one of my cards ready, because it needed to dry. So, if you are following along with the video, just bear that in mind. But the first card I actually made in full was this one.
This is a really simple card to put together (as are all the cards this week) and simply involves die cutting lots of snowflakes and adding them to a layer of Designer Series Paper. I simply used a small amount of Multi Purpose Liquid Glue on the reverse of the snowflakes and added them to the Designer Series Paper. I made sure some of them ‘fell off the edge’ of the paper, which looks much more intentional.
Remember to stamp your sentiment before you cover up too much space! To finish off the card I added lots of Blue Gems in both of the colours. As I said at the start, this was not a difficult card and I can see myself having a die cutting session with a good Box Set and knocking a few of these out.
My next card is quite different. As one of the colours in the paper is Highland Heather, I decided to embrace it for this card. Now this really is a very simple card to put together. Simply Die Cut the negative space label from your card layer, line it up on your Designer Series Paper and stamp your sentiment. I did my stamping before I adhered the card and paper, just in case, but if you are braver than me, feel free to do it after.
This time I added lots of the Adhesive Snowflakes, some individually and some in clusters. The finishing touch, as voted for by those who joined me live, was to add a couple of narrow strips of the Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper. These were made simply by adding a piece of Tear & Tape to the back and then trimming the strips to half the width of the tape. I hope you agree that this is another really simple card to put together, but one that looks really effective.
My third card could be made in any colour and not just for Christmas. The sentiment is perfect to use just to drop a note to someone you are missing at the moment. In England at the moment we are in a pretty full Lockdown again until the start of December, so there are a lot of people I could see myself sending this to.
I used the negative space die on Balmy Blue Card and backed it with Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper before mounting the whole piece on a Misty Moonlight card base. I added some of the matching ribbon before adding the layers to the card, tying a faux knot on the front. To help draw attention to the sentiment, I added a few more Blue Gems.
And so we come full circle to the card that I started at the beginning of my Live. I took a piece of Shimmery White Card and added some ink in the bottom corner. This is such a simple technique. All you need to do is (without mixing the colours) add a couple of ink colours to a Clear Block and spray the block with water. You want the ink to run together a little, so be fairly generous with the spray. Simply stamp the ink onto the Shimmery White Card and move it about a bit to spread the ink. Then leave it to dry.
To save time, I heated the card, but if you want to make a few of these, simply leave them overnight, which will help keep the card a little flatter. I started with a full quarter sheet of card so I could trim away any areas I didn’t like. This was then added to a layer of Designer Series Paper and added to the front of a Night of Navy card base. I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy ink and then adhered a few silver foil snowflakes around the sentiment. It was as simple as that, and of course, having used the Shimmery White card, there is a subtle sparkle on the card too.
So, there you are. Four quick cards all using the Snowflake Splendour Suite of products, but all looking quite different. I hope you will give them a try. If you would like me to send you a set of card kits so you can make these yourself, remember that if you place an order of at least £25.oo using the FACEBOOK LIVE Host Code before the end of Monday 16th November and I will send you all the elements you need. All you need to add are the Inks, Stamps and Adhesives. This is the code to use:
