The Spot Challenge #133 – Today’s Tiles. This week we have a Colour Challenge for you, and what a Colour Challenge! Just take a look at these colours together.
OK, so to be honest, when I first saw these colours together I wondered what Rick was thinking about. These are colours I would NEVER put together, I mean NEVER!! But here I am having done just that. It took a while for me to decide exactly how I was going to get these to work, right up until almost the last moment, I was going to have to ‘cheat’ a little and use the Pumpkin Pie as a tiny add-on. Then it came to me.
I had already decided I was going to use Today’s Tiles for this project and was happily stamping the Rich Razzleberry and Pretty Peacock (the 2 colours from this mix that I could see together. I was really pleased with how well it all lined up, using the Hinge-step Technique with the Stamparatus. But this still left me with how to include Pumpkin Pie. I am sorry, but Pumpkin Pie was never going to work with either Pretty Peacock or Rich Razzleberry. Put both of these together and we come back to ‘How am I going to get Pumpkin Pie into this mix?’.
As you can see, clearly I have, but this was not how I was going to include it. At this stage, all I could think was that I would mat one of the dies onto a square of Pumpkin Pie, which is why that is exactly what I did. Then I decided to add a scalloped square in Pretty Peacock, whic is what I did. But it just didn’t look right, it looked forced. Which is, after all, what it was. Then it came to me.
I pulled out my Pumpkin Pie Blends and started to colour. Any Whisper White area that was large enough to colour with the bullet end of the Blend was coloured. It did take a while, but I am really pleased with how it turned out. Not at all my usual style, but that is kind of what a challenge is all about.
So, I have pushed myself well out of my comfort zone, and now it is your turn. We would love to see what you do with this Colour Challenge, for more inspiration, click HERE or the Challenge image at the top of the page.

Gorgeous card! I am still pondering this set. That must have taken a long time to colour! Worth it though.
I actually really love the colours together. A bit of an exotic feel. Perfect for this stamp set.
Thank you! The Pumpkin Pie did take a while, but it was quite relaxing. This was a set I was never intending to get, but I added it to an order by mistake. I think it could make some amazing projects. I just need to play with it a bit more. Lx
An outstanding card. It is the nicest one on Pinterest. I got quite a kick out of your commentary. I love these colours and am going to use these colours now. Thanks for the inspiration
