Tag Buffet for a Buffet of Cards. Happy Monday to you all. I can hardly believe that we are in the final week of the Designer Series Paper Sale, so please remember to stock up! Today’s cards don’t actually use any Designer Series Paper, but I thought a gentle reminder would be welcome.
I have used the Tag Buffet stamp set to make todays cards, with a little help from the Snowflake Wishes set too. There is some really easy fussy cutting, which would be perfect as a starting point for giving this a go. You could simply replace the fussy cut words with strips of card. The heat embossing of the sentiments certainly adds to the finished card, so I would definitely keep that in.
I chose 3 very different colours for my cards. My first version uses purple shades, and is probably the least traditional of the colours I have chosen. The wash is in Highland Heather and the stocking adds Purple Posy. What is not easy to see in the photo is that I have also lifted some of the wash off by stamping snowflakes with water. It is a very subtle effect, but it is there.
The Poppy Parade version shows the colour lifting a little more. This version also shows the Shimmery Crystal Effects that I have used on the top of each of the stockings. I love the shine and glitter you get with this medium. To help reflect this in the embellishments I chose the Wonderful Gems. These come in both red and clear, with both containing a small amount of fine gold glitter.
This photo shows one of the gems really well, not only do they have the glitter, they are also a perfect match for the Poppy Parade, even though the y are ‘technically’ Real Red. I always think it is worth trying embellishments on similar colours to see if they will work. Sometimes they clearly won’t but it is a great way to stretch your supplies, rather than being fixed in your thinking.
For the final version, in Seaside Spray, I stamped the snowflakes in matching ink, rather than lifting the colour off. The wash is so pale that the colour lift didn’t show very well. This picture shows both the Shimmer Crystal Effects and the Blue Adhesive-back Gems. These are another example of not limiting yourself to the colours quoted on the pack. These come in a combined pack of Balmy Blue and Night of Navy.
Which is your favourite? Are you a traditional Christmas is Red person, a Winter Blue or would you embrace the non traditional Purple? I would love to hear from you, so why not let me know by leaving a comment at the bottom of this post.
