Quite Curvy meets Gilded Autumn. I have three versions of the same project to share with you today, and a video. I am using the Quite Curvy Bundle, which is an early release from the next Mini Catalogue. Customers will be able to order the Quite Curvy Stamps and matching dies, as well as the Curvy Christmas and the Classic Christmas Designer Series Paper, both of which will only be available for a limited period. As one of the many perks for being a Demonstrator, I was able to purchase all of the items on 1st October, at a Discount. I have already made so may projects with this selection of products, including my projects for next month’s Stampin’ Glam Squad Tutorial Bundle.
I wanted to make a project that showed off just how easy it is to use a small selection of the products, along side existing items in my stash, to make some cute cards. So I pulled out the Gilded Autumn papers and got to work cutting them down and then die cutting them with the curvy die.
What makes it so easy to make a pair of cards, is to cut both of your chosen patterned papers to the second mat size, and layer them up before running them through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss. 2 card mats for one run through the die cut machine.
The Quite Curvy Stamp Set has 3 very cute little birds, one of which looks just the right shape for a Robin, so that is how I decided to colour it. The first couple I used Poppy Parade and Pumpkin Pie, I made one using Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends, and one using Crumb Cake. I like both of them, but wanted to see if I would get good results using Cajun Craze for the red breast. Cajun Craze is in the patterned paper, so I was interested in seeing the result.
I actually quite like it. Whilst I accept that it is not a traditional Robin, I think it still works. And did you notice that on one of my cards I didn’t include the die cut branch? I wasn’t sure whether I wanted it there or not. On all of them, I added some Shimmery Crystal Effects to the birds so that they had a wonderful shine and a hint of glitter. I love the raised enamel effect this gives, just make sure you leave it to dry fully before you touch it, and I mean FULLY dry.
Above is the first version of the bird, using Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie and Soft Suede Blends, you can definitely see the tiny pieces of glitter too. It really is very cute.
This is the second version, using Crumb Cake instead of Soft Suede. I love the little guy sitting on the branch and the layout with the curve is just so pretty, with the Cajun Craze card showing through the die cut dots.
On this final version I only used the Cajun Craze Blends for his red breast. I really do like it, but I am not sure it is traditional enough for me to use on a Christmas Card. For Christmas I think I will stick to my first version. You may have noticed that on this version I changed to placement of the sentiment. Because the lower section is much ‘busier’ and has the gold foiling, I decided that it would be better to move the ‘Hello’ to the top left corner. This is an area that our brains have been trained to like as a starting point, it is how we start to read, so is very natural.
In today’s video I a sneak peek of one of the cards from my current Card Class in the Mail. You will find all the details HERE. I have used the Trimming the Town Suite for this month’s class.
