Beautiful Autumn Falling Leaves. Happy Monday to you all, I hope you have an amazing week. I am hoping for one without too much rain. The track we live on is currently doing a great impression of a river, with all the puddles joining up. Later in the week it will become a mud track whether there is more rain or not. But you are here to see my latest project. So here it is.
As the leaves are beginning to change colour, and fall from the trees, I thought I would use that as inspiration for today’s card. The Stamp set is Beautiful Autumn, which is part of the Gilded Autumn Suite (one of my favourites from the August – December Catalogue). This is a 2-Step Stamp Set, so gives lots of opportunity for generational stamping. I have certainly made the most of that technique in this project.
If you take a look at this close up, you will see that my stamping is not perfect by any means, but it really doesn’t matter with this card. The key to this card is the movement, not the perfect stamping.
This image shows just how imperfect my stamping is. Sometimes I think we get hung up on perfection, when the simple act of making a card and sending it is what is important. Just think of the amazing feeling you get when you receive a handmade mini work of art. I certainly don’t spend time looking at the technique to see if it was executed perfectly. I just make the most of that warm feeling of joy I get just knowing someone took time out of their day to make me a handmade card.
When I was designing this card I did take basic design into account. In Western society we tend to scan pages from top left to bottom right. This is because that is how our writing is laid out. It is worth remembering this when you are looking at your design. Using this information means that you can make a card that sits well on the eye (well the brain really!) If you want to challenge the brain, then move the focal points.
But enough of that. I finished the card off by adding some Gilded Gems (perfect for Autumn) and layered the Whisper White layer onto Early Espresso Card. I used Early Espresso to stamp the sentiment, so this helps tie everything together. The Card base is Cinnamon Cider, I used Dimensionals to add the layer to this. And there you have it. My finished card.
