Autumn Greetings Watercolour with Wink of Stella #SimpleStamping Saturday. As I sit writing this post I am looking at the finished projects that I am sharing with you today. I have to say, they really come to life under the lights of my Studio. So much so that I am going to have to use this technique again. But, other than the heading, which probably gave this away, I have not yet shared the technique with you.
This picture does not do the projects justice at all. Don’t get me wrong, they look OK, but sitting here, they are so special. This is definitely one where you are going to want to watch the video to the very end!
Simple but Stunning
The #SimpleStamping version is really simple this week. All I did was stamp the large floral image on a Very Vanilla Note Card in Soft Suede Ink. I then took a Clear Wink of Stella Brush and moved some of the ink around in a few areas.
For the pumpkin and rose hips, I picked up some extra ink to help make them stand out, adding more ink where I wanted shadows. I left all of the leaves free of both colour and Clear Wink of Stella. I felt that adding the glitter everywhere would detract from the simplicity of the card.
Stepped Up Version
For the first Stepped Up version I added some coloured card (Merry Merlot and Night of Navy) as well as some Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper. I used the same Soft Suede ink for the stamping, making sure I gave the stamp lots of pressure in all areas to make sure it got into the texture of the paper.
I wanted to add some colour to this version, so I pulled the Neutrals Stampin’ Write Markers and coloured those on an Acrylic Block. It was simple to then pick the colour up using the Clear Wink of Stella Brush. I am really pleased with the result. I added a few Gold Glitter Enamel Dots to finish the image, before matting on Night of Navy and adding Dimensionals before adding to a Merry Merlot card.
Further Stepped Up Version
For my final version, I added in the Dies and some heat embossing. Heat embossing on Watercolour paper is a little tricky as the ink tends to sink into the paper. Because of this, I used my Stamparatus and having heat embossed once, I replaced the paper and stamped again, repeating the heat embossing.
I repeated the colouring from the previous version before die cutting and adding to a Night of Navy layer, adding some die cut ears of wheat along the way. I used the Brushed Metallic Card for this as it gives a softer finish. The final touch was some more Gold Glitter Enamel Dots and a spritz of Wink of Stella across the whole card, just to soften the Night of Navy a little.
