The Spot Challenge #126 – Anything But a Card – Toile Tidings. Welcome back to another The Spot Creative Challenge. This week we have a really broad Challenge for you. All you need to make is Anything But a Card. I am sure you agree that could be pretty much anything.
I have decided to take a look at a really fantastic set of dies that are in the Annual Catalogue. The main element of the Perfect Parcel Dies is a box that measures 3-1/2 x 2-1/8 x 1-3/8″ (8.9 x 5.4 x 3.5 cm). You simply use the die to cut two pieces the same, and then adhere them together to make the box (if you want to see me make a total mess of doing this, please feel free to watch the video, it is not a pretty sight!) You can get 3 boxes from one piece of 12 x 12″ Designer Series Paper, simply by cutting the paper in 4″ x 12″ strips with the pattern running across the strip. I chose to use the Toile Tidings, returning favourite, Designer Series Paper.
The dies also include a Tag Topper, so I decided to make a matching tag for the boxes I made. This is simple again, simply cut a piece of card 2 x 4″ and run it through your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss to make a really cute tag. I die cut 2 pieces of card for each of my boxes, one in Very Vanilla and the other in the card that matched the colour of the paper.
My Garden Green box is decorated with some of the Real Red Double Stitched Ribbon, again this is from the Annual Catalogue. I think we often forget that there are some amazing products that we can use for our Autumn and Winter projects in the main catalogue. The sentiment is from the Wrapped in Christmas stamp set, the sentiment is the perfect size for my tag. Add a few Wonderful Gems and the project is complete.
The alternative colourway, Real Red, is paired with the Gold Metallic-Edge Ribbon, it gives a much softer looking result, less about contrast and more about blending. As I was using Real Red paper and card, I chose the Real Red Gems from the Wonderful Gems pack. Both the Clear and the Real Red Gems have just the right amount of glitter in them.
I hope you enjoyed my project today and will remember to look at the Annual Catalogue and your existing supplies and see how you can give them a new lease of life by pairing them with newer products. Of course, this wouldn’t be a The Spot Challenge Project if I didn’t remind you to take part. Simply click on the image at the top of this post to go to the website, with all the details.
Now, if you can bear to watch me make a complete mess of making up the Perfect Parcels Box. I do get it right, eventually, but it may amuse you to watch me go so wrong!
