Seaside Notions with Gratitude Card for Kylie Bertucci Blog Highlights. Welcome back to my blog for the second time today. It has been a while, but I am taking part in Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Highlights today, with this project.
You may remember that this is the post that Kylie does once a month and gets those visiting her website to vote on their 5 favourite projects from all of those submitted. The prize is to take part in a Blog Hop with Kylie later in the month. This is a fantastic ‘money can’t buy’ prize, so I would love to have the opportunity to join her again. To vote, all you need to do is click on the button below and vote for me. Assuming the numbering has not changed, I should be Project 34.
Now for more information about the project. Please let it be said that I finally seem to be moving away from my ink blending trend. This time I am back with another Stampin Blends on Vellum Project.
I chose to use the Seaside Notions Stamp Set with the Whale of a Time Designer Series Paper, but I wanted the paper to have a softer look. Bring on the Vellum. Adding a layer of vellum over paper will help to mute the colours, while still allowing you to see through to the pattern. The key of course is how to adhere the vellum without the adhesive showing through. This is where the stamping, and more specifically the heat embossing comes in. Especially with the Seaside Notions set, there are some reasonably large areas of stamping that can hide a dot of glue.
So I stamped in Versamark and Heat Embossed with Gold Powder. To add colour, I used Stampin’ Blends on the reverse of the vellum. Whether you colour on the front or the back of vellum, remember you will need to use darker colours than you imagine. You can layer the colours up a little too, so you can get a darker shade with a little care, just remember to leave one layer to dry before adding the next.
The sentiment was also heat embossed, but this time on Blackberry Bliss card. Once the embossing powder had set, I fussy cut the sentiment out and adhered it over the top of the dot pattern. This makes a great place to add a good amount of adhesive, but there are plenty of spots if you look carefully, and you only need a small amount in each spot. I added the vellum to the front of the Designer Series Paper and then held it in place with my largest Clear Block.
Once the glue was dry, I trimmed the layers to make sure that everything was straight, before adding it to the front of a Blackberry Bliss Card Base. I lined the Card Base with a piece of Whisper White card, stamped with a Sand Dollar in Sahara Sand to mirror the one on the outside of the card.
As I mentioned, I would be very grateful if you felt you could vote for me over on Kylie’s Blog. The link it here:
