Love of Leaves for The Spot Challenge #128. And so, as today is Tuesday, it is time for another The Spot Challenge and this week it is the turn of another Colour Challenge, and such a great selection of colours, one of which you get to choose!
I have been doing a LOT of work on my Pinterest Boards recently adding both my own work and that of others, which I find inspiring. The design for today’s cards is one of the latter and is inspired by a card that Cindy Elam made a while ago. Cindy is based in the USA and her website is HERE.
I am sure I am not the only person who spends a few hours on Pinterest. It is like a rabbit hole for me. I start looking at one thing and end up going down so many new routes that I end up quite dizzy! So, my added metallic is from the Brushed Metallic Cardstock pack in the August to December Mini Catalogue. I actually chose to us the Copper and the Brass, one for each of the cards I made. I can’t decide which I prefer.
For the stamped leaves I used a fun technique called the Baby Wipe Technique. This is a great way to get interesting colours for your solid stamps in particular. In case you have not come across this technique before, it is really simple. Just grab a baby-wipe (any kind will do). Fold it into a little pad and then add drops of the colours you want to use. You can either add the colours in a pattern, such as stripes, or, as I have done, in a random way.
Now, it is confession time! I am based in the UK and that means that I am blighted with the same issue that all European Demonstrators currently have – limited supplies of re-inkers. The reason for this is long, and not very exciting, but it is to do with German Customs Regulations (I warned you it was not exciting!). There have been some changes in regulations about importing liquids into Germany from outside the EU. Why am I telling you this? Well it means that at the moment I can’t get hold of the Bumblebee re-inker, so I have substituted Crushed Curry, which doesn’t have the softness of Bumblebee. But needs must!
The sentiment is also from Love of Leaves and, here, I have inked it with Versamark and heat embossed with Gold powder on Merry Merlot. I cut the strip after I had stamped and embossed, then added a very narrow strip of metallic card underneath.
