Harvest Moon With Autumn Greetings for Blogging Friends Blog Hop. Welcome to my blog, especially if this is your first visit and you are joining me on the Blogging Friends Blog Hop. I was thrilled to be invited to join this group of amazing crafters from around the world. We hop once a month and have some amazing themes coming up. Today the theme is ‘Harvest Moon’, so get ready for the end of Summer and the start of Autumn.
I have chosen to do some more ink blending, I am really enjoying it and am hoping that you are learning some tips and techniques along the way with me. The inked background is the main element for this project, although it is probably not the element that is most eye catching. I used 4 colours of ink today, Misty Moonlight (which was pretty much given!), Cherry Cobbler, Cinnamon Cider and Bumblebee. The last 3 colours are probably not as predictable as the first one, but I am hoping you can see why I chose them. If you have time to watch my tutorial you will see how I built the colour up.
To make sure that the moon itself was kept clear of any over-spill from the blending, I added a 1″ circle of Post-it-Note to the card front before adding the background colours. I only removed this at the end, revealing a clean white circle, ready to take the lightest touch of Bumblebee ink. The moon can have a little texture if you want, bu everything else should be as smooth as you can possibly get it.
Before adding the inked background to the Cherry Cobbler Card Base, I added a splattering of Wink of Stella, just to add a little glimmer to the finished piece. I am hoping I have captured this in the pictures, but in real life, it adds so much to the finished card.
The greeting is stamped on Misty Moonlight card with Versamark Ink and Gold Embossing Powder. Although the script is very fine, I do like the subtlety of the Gold on the Misty Moonlight, it blends well with the Brushed Metallic Card I have used for the die cut Ears of Wheat. In my video today you will find out why an Ear of Wheat is near to my heart, so don’t miss that!
The sentiment is layered on some more Brushed Metallic Card, both pieces punched with the Banners Pick a Punch. I love this punch set, it is so quick to use and gives just the right amount of border around your card pieces.
The Ears of Wheat are attached to the back of the sentiment strip, so they are away from the background a little, which I am hoping gives them more life and suggests that they are blowing in the breeze a little.
