Facebook Live 22nd September 2020 Replay – Day 8 Halloween or Christmas? You Choose – Turnovers. Well, what can I say about my last Facebook Live Coffee and Card event, other than I had a blast. I can only hope that those watching also had fun. As I am still in the middle of my ‘Halloween or Christmas? You Choose’ mini series I made a Halloween, a Christmas and an extra, Autumn, project.
Of course, having a third style of project does mean you have three to choose from, and I do want to know which is your favourite. Either leave a comment at the bottom of this post, or hop over to my YouTube Channel and leave a comment there. I always reply to comments, so I would love to hear from you.
Halloween?
I am still in love with the Magic in This Night Designer Series Paper and the Iridescent Pearls, so no surprise that I included them here. I picked the colours for my bats from the colours in the Paper, so I have Pretty Peacock and Blackberry Bliss in my Bats. The stamping for all the projects is Shimmery White Card because there is a lot of water being used. For the Bats, I inked up the ‘back’ of the stamp in Pretty Peacock, spritzed the paper with water and then stamped. Adding the outline was simply a case of cleaning the stamp, turning it over and inking/stamping in Blackberry Bliss.
I have to say that these are some of the cutest bats I have ever seen, not scary at all. But as we have bats that fly around our garden, I am not scared of them in real life either. They are such busy little creatures. Did you spot the Iridescent Pearl?
Christmas?
I am not convinced by the Christmas version of my project. The stamping was a little different. This time I used Cherry Cobbler and Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Write Markers to in up my stamps, then spritzed the paper and stamped. Once the ink was dry, I added some Silver Heat Embossing. The finished images are not very dark, so they did not stand out against the paper I had chosen. I could have used plain card, but my series about using the same, or similar, products for all the projects. To help the baubles stand out, I added a circle of Cherry Cobbler card behind each one.
To finish this project off (before I added the Baubles, obviously!) I added some Shaded Spruce and Metallic Mesh Ribbons. I am trying to use the Metallic Mesh for projects that are not Halloween, so was happy to use it with these Silver Heat Embossed Baubles.
Or Autumn?
For my final project I went all Autumnal. The Pumpkins are stamped in much the same way as the Bat, but with more water. This time u used Pumpkin Pie Stampin Write Marker (obviously!) and then added Cajun Craze over the top, having made sure the paper was still really wet. A Pumpkin Pie Ink Pad will get a much darker result if that is what you are after. I finished the pumpkins with Gold Heat Embossing.
So the Pumpkins had a hope of standing out against the pattern of plaid I wanted to use, I added a ‘quieter’ pattern across the card and used that to ground the pumpkins. I also added a Gold Embossed Sentiment to help with the grounding.
So which is your favourite project? Please do let me know.
