Facebook Live 1st September 2020 – REPLAY. Well that was more than a little nutty. I am still trying to get over the slightly odd weekend. I attended the Stampin’ Up! Leaders’ Summit, which started on Thursday Evening and finished at (I kid you not!!) 2am on Sunday Morning! Thursday was not a long session, but both Friday and Saturday started at 7pm and went on until 2am. I am passed the age when I can survive on not much sleep. Yesterday morning I overslept, so it was 9.30 by the time I got out of bed. Not a great start to the day as I had NOTHING planned for the LIVE. Happily I had asked for requests, so I just went with those, most of which almost worked!
Forever Fern – Christmas Card
I was asked to have a look at the Forever Fern Stamp Set, so I thought I would include some of the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper and the Forever Gold Specialty papers and see if I could make a Christmas Card. I decided that I would add some Real Red to the mix to help with the Christmas feel. I chose a paper which I think looks a bit Christmas-like and added a wreath from the Gold Specialty papers. Stamping and Die Cutting the additional elements meant that adding the Real Red was fairly simple.
To bring the outside of the card to the inside, I used the same stamps to add some colour in both full and second generation ink. I do try to include an element of the outside on the inside of my cards, although I don’t always remember!
The finishing touches for the outside were the addition of some more Forever Gold elements, which I cut into smaller pieces. I also added some small foliage using the Red Velvet paper, this is such a great addition to a Christmas Card and it matches the Real Red ink perfectly, as you can see above. The final touch was to add some of the Real Red gems from the Wonderful Gems pack. I love these gems, they are a perfect finishing touch. Oh, and the Happy Christmas is from the Warm Hugs Stamp Set.
Heartwarming Hugs and Warm Hugs – Christmas Card
I used the Clear Gems from the Wonderful Gems pack on my next card. This uses the Heart Warming Hugs Designer Series Paper and the Warm Hugs Stamp Set. The result is a really simple looking card, but one with lots of layers. I used Real Red Ink again, this time with Mossy Meadow. The little mug in the middle of the circular element is just too cute! It has a Mossy Meadow outline, with Real Red for the colour filler. I really enjoy a bit of 2-step stamping, but this really is very cute.
Just look at the stitching on that circle! It is so easy to get this with the die in the Warm Hugs Bundle. I am loving the long and short stitching for a change. And can you see how well the stamps fit into each other, just remember that if you have an open stamp, such as the one I used with Mossy Meadow, peel it off the acetate and place it upside-down on a piece of paper to ‘relax’ before picking it up with the block. If you add it straight to a block you could find that it is not totally straight.
Lovely You – Encouragement Card
My final card is not my favourite of the day, but I think it works. I used Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green and Gorgeous Grape inks with the Lovely You Stamp Set and Punch Bundle (the punch is currently on Backorder, due in next week). I built up the foliage and florals using Granny Apple Green and Gorgeous Grape, full, second and third generation inks. I am not convinced that it is not just a ‘hot mess’, but it sort of works. The sentiment strip in Balmy Blue and Whisper White certainly helps to sort it out, but I cut it shorter than I meant to. To solve this, I simply cut down the Stamped mat and layered it on Gorgeous Grape, which, although not planned, does help bring everything together.
The finishing touch for this card was the addition of some of the, not very imaginatively named, Blue Adhesive-backed Gems. I don’t quite understand how we can have ‘Wonderful Gems’ for one set of embellishments and ‘Blue Adhesive-backed Gems’ for another, but we do. So, that was it for the day, other than all the updates, which I have included below. Today’s video is one of the long ones, so grab a cup of something and settle down for a comedy show!
