Facebook Live 15th September Replay – Day 1 – Halloween or Christmas? You Choose. I had such fun yesterday on my Facebook Live event. We looked at how to do easy Mats and Layers as our first topic. This is something that I have been asked to cover a few times, so finally I can tick that off my list.
Most of the event was spent on the first project in my new Mini Series ‘Halloween or Christmas? You Choose’. For the next 13 posts I will be sharing ideas that, with a simple change of a few colours, can be turned from a Halloween project into a Christmas project. I want to show just how versatile our products are because I believe that sometimes we can’t see past the samples in the catalogue. My project today uses the Coming Home Bundle from the August to December Catalogue. If you look at the samples in the Catalogue you will only see Christmas, but it is perfect for so much more than that. What about a New Home card or, for today, a
Halloween for you?
The first version of my project is definitely not for Christmas, unless you are thinking of the Tim Burton’s ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’. I have embraced classic Halloween colours of Basic Black, Basic Grey and Cajun Craze, with a little sprinkling of Pumpkin Pie to lift the palette a little. Am I the only person who is always amused by the idea of having a Dark Black and Light Black Stampin’ Blend? The bat is fussy cut from the Magic in this Night Designer Series Paper, unless you have that paper anyway, I would certainly not suggest you buy it just to cut one bat!
Two of the trees and the slope are cut from Black Glitter Paper, which is perfect for this project, being black, but not a ‘solid’ black. The other trees are cut from Cajun Craze, again, to lift the project a little. The Metallic Mesh Ribbon has been coloured with some Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink. It takes a while to dry, but I love the effect, and don’t get me started on those Iridescent Pearls!!
Or Christmas?
My more traditional Christmas version may be more up your street. Simply by changing the colour palette you get a totally different look. The two cards are in almost every way, clearly the same design. I have shifted the house across to the left for this version, but other than that, it is pretty much the same.
I replaced the Black Glitter Paper with the White Festive Felt, backed with Adhesive Sheet, which die cuts perfectly, although I suggest you use the Standard, number 3, cutting plate, not the Magnetic, number 5, plate if you want a really great cut first time. This also goes for the Glitter Paper, but for a slightly different reason. the glitter gets caught in the cut on the Magnetic Plate, so it has less chance of ‘healing’. A few self-adhesive Snowflakes finish the card off.
If you watch the replay of the video, you will see that anyone placing an order of at least £25 AND using the Host Code, before midnight on Friday, will receive a pack of the self-adhesive Snowflakes as well as their usual Gifts from me. If your order is over £150, please don’t use the Host Code, you will still receive the Snowflakes. You must have a UK address to use this offer.
Facebook Live Replay Time!
Please don’t stress out about the length of this shopping list, it covers both projects and many of the items are optional.
