Day 12 Halloween or Christmas? You Choose – Poinsettia Place for The Spot #130. We are almost at the end of the mini series, just today and tomorrow and then we are done. That said, I have a couple of stunning cards to share with you today. As ever, they are the same, but different. And they are made today as part of The Spot Challenge, which has a Sketch Challenge today. To see the other Design Team Projects, and take part, simply click on the image.
Both of my cards use the dies from Poinsettia Place and are about as far from each other as you can get. One is soft and gentle, while the other is dark and moody.
I found a great effect that you can get with the Poinsettia Plush and some Stampin’ Blends. So easy and really effective, especially if you have very juicy Blends.
Halloween?
I am so pleased with how this card turned out. I knew what I was aiming for, but that doesn’t always mean you get what you are hoping. From the Spritzing of the Petals with Frost White Shimmer Paint and Alcohol, to the Poinsettia Plush Specialty Paper coloured with Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Blends, to the Beaded Pearls coloured with Dark Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blends. It all simply worked.
Just take a look at the flower close up. I know I shouldn’t say it, but it really is spectacular. I should add that, other than the spritzing, I made this card in exactly the same way as the Christmas version, which you can see me make in today’s video.
Or Christmas?
I have a real confession about Poinsettias. I am really not a fan! I think it dates back to a Christmas holiday job I had when I was at school. I worked in a Florists and was surrounded with them. I found them slightly spooky, which is possibly why I thought I would use them for a Halloween Project.
But, I am actually pleased with how this one turned out. The soft pink (Blushing Bride) centre adds just enough colour to lift the flower, but not so much that it ends up as my least favourite colour of Poinsettia. The red ones are bad enough, but the Salmon Pink ones are just a step too far. Sorry, but there it is.
You Choose!
Please let me know which is your favourite of today’s cards. I would love to hear from you. Either leave a comment at the bottom of this post, or over on my Video.
