Creating With Kindness Blog Hop with Jar of Flowers. If this is your first time visiting me, welcome and I hope you enjoy your visit. If you have visited before, then you already know that I don’t take life too seriously, so there is likely to be some madness along the way. Today I am hopping with the Creating Kindness Design Team with our theme of colour.
Every year I grow some Zinnias from seed. I love these bright and sunny flowers, especially as you never know quite how they are going to look each year. The colours are amazing and bright, they seem to put up with drought and flood really well, which is just as well this year as that pretty much sums up the summer we have had. They have even survived the high winds we have had this year.
As I seem to be in a bit of an ink blending phase at the moment, it was no surprise that I have used this technique again. What can I say, it is a great technique, accessible to everyone with just a few basic tools (and the addition of glycerine if you are anything like me). My colours for this project are definitely at the bright end of the spectrum, Magenta Madness, Calypso Coral and Mango Melody.
I used both the inks and Stampin’ Blends in these colours, the only additions were Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends Combo.
Although the Far of Flowers stamp I selected is meant to be Sunflowers (my absolute favourite flowers), use different colours and you can certainly see that they are now Zinnias.
To make sure the colours of the flowers were ‘clean’, I left the centre of my ink blended card free from colour. Even where the image overlaps the ink blended are, the Stampin’ Blends keep their colour really well.
I used the Stitched Rectangles to cut the inked image and the Basic Black mat. Using these for the focal point means that you can adjust the position until you have it in the perfect place. The Basic Black is there to make the colours ‘pop’ and to add contrast between the inked piece and the Designer Series Paper. I chose to use the 2020-2022 InColor Designer Series Paper to avoid using a solid colour. Which pattern do you think works best? The Dots or the Textile? Please let me know in the comments.
