Warm & Toasty Reflective Card. As today is another hot an humid one in rural Oxfordshire, I thought I would try making a card that has ice as a major part of it. My hope is that it will at least make me FEEL cooler. Sadly, as I was filming the video a thunder storm started to brew, so the humidity just increased even more.
I saw this technique on a card I spotted on Pinterest some time ago and filed the idea away for future use. What I don’t seem to have done is actually save the image, so I have no idea who it was that inspired me. But I am loving this really easy way to get a mirror image effect. It is so simple.
This is the card made before I started filming. I used a few additional Stampin’ Blends to colour the hat and scarf, I think they were Balmy Blue and Pretty Peacock, but don’t hold me to that!
I did have to fussy cut the images for the card version of the bears, but they are not too difficult to cut, so would be a good starting point for anyone interested in honing their fussy cutting skills. Do you like the pun for the sentiment? I felt it was so far from how I was feeling that, even if the Yule is spelt differently, I just had to use it for this card.
The card I made on camera uses all the same techniques as the larger version. The image seems to be having a great time spinning on the ice, just look at that cheeky grin! All the card took was some simple stamping, colouring and fussy cutting, repeated (other than for the fussy cutting) on the vellum wrap. This is just a strip of Vellum long enough to wrap to the back of the larger mat and 2 ” (5 cm) high.
To get the reflective effect, you simply add the vellum so the right side of the stamping is down and then line up the base of each image so it looks like a reflection in the ice. Add the sentiment, cut with the Banners Pick a Punch, and some Adhesive-backed Snowflakes to finish off your card. It really is that simple!
