#SimpleStamping Saturday – Have a Hoot. I hope you have had a good week and have some exciting plans for the weekend. If you need some crafting inspiration, then you are in the right place. Today I have one of my #SimpleStamping projects. One basic design made three ways, aimed at 3 different types of crafter. The first version is quick and easy to make, so if you are new to card making, or if you want something quick, this will be perfect for you. If you have a bit more time and a few more supplies, then this may be the version you need to look at. This version stakes a bit longer, but does not involve any particularly difficult techniques. Of course the final version is for the crafter who has a lot of stash and is happy to use a few more challenging techniques. Bottom line – they are all the same basic design and, I hope you agree, are all really cute!
Quick and Simple Card
How cute is this? I just love this little guy and seeing the little owl peeking round the side of the smiling pumpkin is just such fun. There are just two stamps for this card, one for the sentiment and one for the image. Both are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I like to hold my stamp on the card for a few seconds to give the ink a good chance to transfer to the card. Our Notecards and Envelopes are such a great idea, giving you 20 of each in one pack. I always have some on hand for quick projects. And did you know that they fit perfectly in out Mini Paper Pumpkin Boxes?
I coloured both the image on the card and the one on the envelope with Watercolour Pencils and blended the colour with one of our Blender Pens. The Blender Pens come in a pack of 3 and they seem to last forever (I am sure they don’t really!). I used a lot of colour on the card, but used a much lighter hand on the envelope so the card was brighter. These really are very quick to make, but I hope you agree, they are really pretty and cute.
Stepped Up Card
For the first of my stepped up version I added some coloured card and patterned paper to the mix. I also pulled some ribbon and adhesive backed sequins from the Annual Catalogue. The image is stamped in exactly the same way as on the first card, but on a separate piece of Whisper White. I used Stampin’ Blends to colour the image, these give a smoother, and slightly more professional, finish. Punched with a circle punch and layered, but off set, on a circle of Black Glitter paper, I added the image in the same basic area as the original. I did mover the ‘Boo!’ to the bottom corner of the card. This felt like a better placement with the other layers, but I am still happy with my placement for the #SimpleStamping version.
Ribbon and Adhesive Sequins finish the card of nicely and add some additional drama to the final project. Did you notice that I outlined the image with the Light Gray Granite Blend? This helps to make the image ‘pop’, and tidies up any areas where yo might have gone outside the line!
More Stepped Up Card
My final version introduces the matching dies and some heat embossing. The layout of the card is almost exactly the same as for the middle version, but replaces the circle of Black Glitter Paper with a die cut cobweb. Although I die cut the image, I still added Light Gray Granite Blend to the edge, it really does make such a difference to the final look.
Heat embossing the sentiment in Silver is another great way to step the card up. I punched the word out using the Classic Label Punch on both cards, and added some of the Black Glitter Paper, hand cut to follow the same shape as the punch.
So which one is your favourite? Which one would you want to make yourself (this could be a different one!). I hope you like them all in their own way. I have lots of ideas for using the Have a Hoot Bundle and am going to use it for my next Creativity in a Box Kit. There will be more details of that in the next few days, so if you like this Bundle, keep your eyes peeled for all the information soon.
