#SimpleStamping Saturday – Happiest of Birthdays. I am going away from my ‘Not Just for Christmas’ theme from now, as the new Catalogue is only a few days away. Today I have another bright and jolly card, using the same Designer Series Paper Pack I used for yesterday’s card.
Quick and Simple Card
As always, my first card is a quick and simple card, using one of our fantastic Note Cards and Envelops. This card is about as quick as you can get. All I did was selective inking with the side of the brush end of Bermuda Bay, Mango Melody and Gorgeous Grape. Having inked up the stamp, before I actually stamped it down I ‘huffed’ on it to activate the ink. I find that when you use Stampin’ Write Markers to ink up your stamps, you need to hold them to the paper a little longer than usual, just to give them a chance to move from the stamp to the card.
To finish the card off, I ‘spritzed’ some of the ink across the corner of the card. This is pretty easy to do, although you may want to practise a little first. I explain how to do this in the video today, so that is well worth a look. I also spritzed the top left corner of the envelope, because #SimpleStamping Saturday has a rule about not leaving the envelope un-inked.
Stepped Up Card
For my first stepped up card I have introduced coloured card and patterned paper. I have also used some Heat Embossing for the sentiment, with one of my favourite combinations, Night of Navy and White. This is a great combination in clothing, and works just as well for paper crafts. I added the smallest amount of Ribbon too.
I knew I wanted to add some of the Coastal Cabana Ribbon from the Playing with Patterns Ribbon Combo Pack, but I only had enough for one of my stepped up cards. No problem, just hide the end under the sentiment, rather than wrapping it around the whole of the card mat. You see, all my little secrets are coming out!
Avid Crafter Card
OK, so this is the card that I actually made first (I did say all my secrets were coming out!). I had completely forgotten that it was a friend of our’s birthday until the day. They live over an hour from us, so I needed to post the card. Hence I used this sentiment, and am sharing ANOTHER secret with you.
The only real change on this card was to use the Stitched Nested Label Dies for the sentiment, rather than a simple cut down piece of card. I think it is great that Stampin’ Up! included the straight stitched ‘die’ in this pack so you can cut the labels down if you want, but still have the stitching and embossing.
Which one are you going to try making? I would love to hear from you. Why not leave a comment here, or over on my YouTube Channel and let me know.
