Plaid Tidings and Love of Leaves. Have you looked at the Plaid Tidings Papers from the August – December Catalogue yet? I did a project using them a few weeks ago, but they keep surprising me. There are so many colours in them that I think they are perfect for pretty much every project you are looking at. Today I am focusing on just one piece, but both sides. I am also looking at just one piece of the In Good Taste Papers from the Annual Catalogue. I have paired them with the Love of Leaves Bundle for both of my cards.
The Pattern from I chose from Plaid Tidings is pretty bright on both sides, so it can take some calming down with papers from the In Good Taste paper pack.
I chose to use Seaside Spray for my leaf on my first card. Like the wood print, it helps to soften the Plaid Tidings pattern. To get the paper the right size for the card front, I simply cut the Plaid Tidings piece in half and added Stampin’ Seal to the folded card front, concentrating on the top corners. All I needed to after that was trim the excess off, using my Paper Snips, from the back, using the edge of the card as a guide. Repeat the process with the In Good Taste paper and you have most of the front of the card finished.
The strip across the middle of the card is just a thin strip of Brushed Metallic Card adhered by adding a length of Tear & Tape to the back and trimming it so it is just 1/8″ wide. Because there is Tear & Tape on the back, it becomes a sticker. Add our leaf and a short piece of trim (frayed after tying the knot) a simple stamped sentiment and my favourite, Elegant Faceted Gems. Done!
Alternative Sides
Simply by turning the Designer Series Paper over you can get a totally different look. That was all I did for card front on the Alternative Version. I changed the leaf to Mango Melody, added Holiday Rhinestones and Braided Trim (also frayed) for a different look.
Technically the rhinestones I used are Pumpkin Pie, but I would challenge you to know that without me telling you. I did change the colour of the Brushed Metallic piece too, but those are the only different items I used.
