Nothing’s Better Than for The Spot #122. Welcome back for a 2nd time today. This time I am here to show you the project I have made for this week’s The Spot Challenge. This week we have a theme of ‘Coffee, Cocktails and Chocolates. To see that post and to enter, just remember to click on the image:
I have gone with ‘Cocktails’ and the Nothing’s Better Than Bundle. This is such a quirky set, with a real retro feel, inspired by Connie Stewart, who loves that whole look.
This is a pretty simple card layout, with just some diagonal placement, some colouring with Stampin’ Blends and some heat embossing. BUT, it is not a simple as it may look at first.
The colouring is pretty straightforward, I used Shimmery White Card this time, but other than that, it is much as I would usually do, starting with the lighter shade and then adding some dark before blending out with more light. There is a close up of the colouring further down the post.
The tricky part of this card is the stamping and Heat Embossing. This is one sentiment, but split over 3 lines. I am not one for ‘surgery’ on my stamps, if they are made in one piece, that is how I keep them. So, to get the 3 words where I wanted them, without over stamping, was not ‘hard’, just a little ‘tricky’. It involves the careful placement of a few Sticky Notes, plus heating each word as you go. If you take a look at the video it will all become clear.
Above is the close up of the colouring I promised you. Dare I mention that this is inspired by the image of a Rainbow Cocktail I found on Google! I have no idea what the ingredients are, but it certainly looks fun!
