Facebook Live Replay – Tuesday 18th August 2020 Featuring Box of Sunshine Paper Pumpkin. I finally have the Box of Sunshine Paper Pumpkin Kit in my sticky hands! OK, let’s be honest, I have 3 of them, and might get more. I love the Paper Pumpkin Kits, but sadly, if you are outside North America, you are only going to see a few of them, and you certainly can’t get a subscription for them. But, I am just going to concentrate on the one we currently have. It is awesome and perfect for what is going on in the world at the moment.
On my regular Facebook Live this week all we looked at was what is in the kit and how to make the cards up. What I was stunned by was just how much is included in the box. There are almost double the elements that you need to make up the 8 cards. This means that even if you don’t want to cut into any of the card bases and envelopes to stretch the kit, you can any way, just by adding some additional card stock. I should add that there is an Ink Spot included, but no block, so you will need one of those (Clear Block D is recommended). The Ink Spot is Archival Basic Black, which is no longer part of our usual offering, but it does give a really black black. Just make sure you allow the ink to dry properly!!
The Included Projects
As I mentioned, I started by making up the card designs that are featured in the kit. The first card I want to share is the Sending Sunshine Card. This involves a bit of stamping (I highly recommend using a Stampin Pierce Mat #126199) but, like all of the cards, is really easy to put together.
Next up is a very simple card to put together. Just one word to stamp, a sticker and a popped up piece. I think it took longer for me to remove the ‘pips’ from the die cuts than to make the card!
If you think you have seen the sequins in the kit before, you probably have. It is one of the sheets of the Artistry Blooms Adhesive Backed Sequin pack, so if you want more, you know what to do!! And don’t you just LOVE the pineapple! This is another die cut, so you guessed it, longer to get the pips off than to put the card together
The last of the card designs is this card, with a bunch of Lemons. In the picture on the instructions for the kit it looks like the sequins on this card are meant to match the colour of the leaves. These are Shaded Spruce, so I tried colouring the sequins with the Dark Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blend. It works perfectly, so if you want Poppy Parade sequins, you know what to do.
Alternative Projects
During the Facebook Live I tried to replicate some of the watercolour backgrounds from the kit cards. I also promised that I would make them up into a couple of Alternative Projects. Well here they are. The first one has a LOT of Poppy Parade on it, it makes it so bright and happy, so I decided to trim it down a little and add the sun and stripes stamps. For the banner, I heat embossed in gold on basic Black, before trimming the end of the strip with the Banners Pick a Punch. Mounted on a layer of Basic Black and a Crushed Curry Card Base, this is one happy card.
The final card I have to share with you today uses the other watercolour piece I made on Tuesday. I have cut this one down a little more than the first one, and there is more white left on the watercolour piece. To tie the white in I have used a Thick Whisper White card base and a white label from the kit. This is actually the label I stamped so badly during my Live. I simply put it in my Stamparatus and lined the stamp up again so I could stamp it properly! The banner pieces are some of the Black Glitter Paper from the August – December Mini Catalogue.
I will be making LOTS more alternative projects with this kit, but most of these will only be available to customers who purchase the kit from me. I will have a pdf of projects available for the start of September, so if you want more inspiration, simply add the Box of Sunshine to your next order. More details are further down this post.
