Beautiful Moments Team Colour Challenge. You may already know that we have a few colour challenges going on in the Team at the moment. The idea is that anyone in the Team can post a photo of their project using the colours selected and who ever gets the most comments and likes gets to pick the next set of colours. We are having such fun with this challenge. Some of the colour combinations are more of a ‘challenge’ than others. This weeks I really enjoyed. Sahara Sand, Petal Pink and Seaside Spray.
I pulled an old favourite stamp set for this week. Beautiful Moments is such a soft set, with the most beautiful images, it seemed perfect for this set of colours. They are all close to being pastel shades, so it seemed a match made in heaven. I hope you will agree that it is!
Because I wanted a colour wash behind the focal image, I decided to use our Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper. In doing so, I made a discovery. As I passed the stamped image through my pretty new Stampin’ Cut & Emboss I found that the paper became smoother. I know some people find that watercolour paper can be a little too textured for a clean stamping result. Well now you have the answer, run it through your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine first. I did find that wrapping a piece of copy paper around it meant I got a cleaner result, so would recommend this to you.
The wash is a simple wet on wet technique. First ‘prime’ your paper with clean water, you are looking for a light sheen, not puddles! Then add your colour with a wet brush, so the colour runs across the ‘primed’ surface. Once you have added your first colour you can clean you brush to add the second. By using the wet on wet technique you will get a softer effect and may have a little bleeding of the colours into each other. Leave this to dry naturally, or dry it with your heat tool if you are impatient like me!
That is basically it. One stamped image, die cut and layered onto a colour wash mat, which is in turn on a coloured mat.
