#SimpleStamping Saturday with Silhouette Scenes. Is it just me, or are the weeks speeding up again? When we first went into lockdown the days seemed to creep by (not that I managed to get any more done). Is it because we are allowed to go out and do more now? Whatever the reason, I just can’t believe it is Saturday already. Of course, as it is Saturday, it is also time for #simplestamping Saturday. Today I am crafting with the Silhouette Scenes Stamp Set and coordinating Sweet Silhouette dies. I am so pleased they carried over to the current Annual Catalogue.
Quick and Simple
It has been a while since I last used Very Vanilla note cards, so today I am. I wanted to make this a super quick card, and I do mean really quick. The Silhouette Scenes are perfect for this. With just one ink pad, a pack of note cards and the stamp set I made my first card in just a few minutes. Of course I stamped the envelope, today I used the ‘girl on a swing’ image on the flap. I did need to use a craft room staple, a sticky note, to make sure I didn’t stamp on the front of the envelope. Boy, sticky notes are useful to have on hand.
Casual/Stepped Up
For my first ‘stepped up’ version of the card, I went from pre-packed note cards, to the standard A6 (International) card base and added a matching Very Vanilla mat.
With the slightly larger space I decided to bring the ‘girl on a swing’ stamp on to the card itself. My challenge was to include something for the swing to ‘hang’ from. I found, somewhat out of proportion branch in the Butterfly Wishes (#149346). This worked perfectly and by moving the original child to the bottom right of the card, everything fell into place. The stamped layer is popped up with Dimensionals and I added, my current favourite embellishments, Elegant Faceted Gems.
To be honest, this was not how I had originally planned this card to be. Watch the video to see my original version.
Avid/Stepped Up Fun Fold
Time to get the Sweet Silhouette dies out. Using the amazing tree silhouette was a given, but I wanted a real statement for this version. What better than a fun fold. This is a truly simple card fold, but having the fold makes such a difference. I fussy cut the image of the ‘girl on a swing and trapped the’ ropes between two layers of the die cut tree branch.
So, other than the die cutting machine and some coloured card, this is the same basic card. Don’t the Elegant Faceted Gems look cute? I had assumed the white ones would stand out too much on Very Vanilla card, but actually, they blend really well and add the little added touch I was hoping for.
Well, what do you think? Aren’t the cards cute? I hope you enjoy the video tutorial. If you don’t already subscribe to my YouTube channel, I would be so grateful if you could. Subscribing, ‘liking’ and leaving a comment really helps the algorithm to promote my channel.
