Press On Design Process. Happy Friday to you all, and thank you for stopping by. Today I have a really cute card to share with you. I have paired Press On (available to order on 4th August) with Playing with Patterns from the Annual Catalogue. It is wonderful that we can mix new with even newer.
Although I could claim this as a ‘Not just for Christmas’ project, I think, even for me, that is more than a little tenuous. But it does help prove my point, that just because a product is in, what was historically, the Autumn/Winter Catalogue, doesn’t mean it can only be used on Autumn/Winter projects. I don’t know this for certain, but I think that is one of the reasons for the name change from Autumn/Winter or Holiday Catalogue. Of course, as we as operate in New Zealand and Australia, it definitely isn’t Autumn/Winter! But enough of my nattering, let’s get back to the project.
I had a vague idea how this card was going to turn out as I started today’s video, but I certainly hadn’t made it before, to replicate for the video, which I often do. I had a small selection of supplies and an idea. Nothing more than that. I often find that having too much choice is not good for me. I will keep looking for the ‘better’ choice, rather than the one in front of me, often wasting time and ending up using what was to hand anyway.
Today I have limited my products and am just ‘going with the flow’. Choosing my paper early in the design process is a great way to decide on your colour palette, in this case Playing with Patterns gives me Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Night of Navy and Purple Posy. As I knew I wanted to use Stampin’ Blends, I could limit myself to these, or similar, colours. No stressing whether they will ‘work’ together, because I know they do from the paper. I chose to use the new Banner punch from the August/December catalogue for my row of coffee cups, this is a perfect height for the cups. Leaving a gap for a small piece of ribbon and a bow gives just the tough I was looking for to highlight the cups as the ‘main feature’.
A sentiment at the bottom right of the card and a couple of cups on the inside give a finishing touch to the card. It is little touches, like carrying the image to the inside of the card, and envelope, that make all the difference to your card.
