Nothing’s Better Than for The Spot #118. Welcome back to my Blog for the second time today and the third time in 24 hours. If you have been following me for a while, you will know that on Tuesday’s I post my Inspiration Project for The Spot Challenge. I love working with this group of amazing Designers from around the world, they really keep me on my toes and stretch my creativity. Today our Challenge has the Theme of Creating Your Own Designer Series Paper.
I chose to use the Nothing’s Better Than Bundle for this challenge. I had specifically chosen this bundle because I thought it would be one that the other Design Team Members would not use. Yes, well I got that wrong, but, as I write this, there is only one other project using this bundle, but in a different way, so that’s OK and just gives you more projects to look at and tempt you to get this Bundle. I have used more coloured Vellum in this project, which is why my Top Tip for today was how to hide adhesive behind vellum. It is almost like I planned it!
The Project
I have, obviously, chosen to use the Cookie elements from the Nothing’s Better Than Bundle. I did wonder about using the word or not, but went with it and am really pleased I did. For me, the key to using stamps to make your own Designer Series Paper is to make sure you end up with something that could be Designer Series Paper. That may sound obvious, but if there is one mistake I have seen more than any other is to NOT let the images fall off the edge of the card, even if you are using words. Also make sure you turn your stamps, again, even words. People will still know that ‘Cookies’ is cookies, no matter which way up it is.
I love the dies cuts in this Bundle, especially as the ‘Love you more than’ is one die, so is much quicker to die cut. I die cut all the words 3 times, twice in Crumb Cake and once in Soft Suede. To add more emphasis to the words (and one of the cookies) I added some Shimmer Crystal Effects. This stuff is amazing, it not only add great shine (with just enough glitter), it also adds some dimension, which you can see on the dots on the cookie above.
The ribbon is the White Crinkled Seam Binding. I coloured it with the Mint Macaron Stampin’ Write Marker. I stupidly had forgotten that we had Mint Macaron Blends, but actually, using the Marker was probably the better ‘choice’. It does take a little longer to dry, but the finished colour is a little darker and closer to the colour of the Mint Macaron Card I used for the mat. As ever, you can see how I made this card by watching the video below.
I am still hoping a few extra people will vote for my entry in Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Highlights. If you have not done so yet, please consider taking a couple of minutes to do so. Just click on the ‘Vote for Me’ button below, and look for entry 40! Thank you in advance.
