Gilded Autumn for Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Highlights Winners’ Hop. Well that’s a mouthful, but so worth every word, because this post is only possible because I entered Kylie’s International Blog Highlights event. But the main reason that I can take part in the Winner’s Hop is because YOU got me here. I am astonished that I was not only in the Top Ten, I was voted second!! To see the original Project, simply Click HERE. How appropriate is it that the Theme for today’s Hop is Thanks, so this card project is is my Thank You to all of you. You may well have joined me from Diane Evans in Canada, if so you will know just how amazing her project was.
As a slight difference from my recent projects, this is not a ‘Not Just for Christmas’ project. This is a full on Gilded Autumn Project, using the Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Beautiful Autumn Bundle. I could have used the Ribbon from the Suite too, but to be honest, I forgot that there was any!!! Seriously, where is my head at the moment? I think it has gone on a holiday without me.
I would be lying if I told you this was a quick card to make. It was not difficult, but certainly took a bit of time. The most time consuming element is the stamping and punching for all the leaves and acorns. I always say this when it comes to 2-step stamping, PLEASE stamp the darkest colour first. In this case you would want to stamp the outline (which is in Early Espresso) first and then fill in the background colour.
The leaves are stamped in Cajun Craze, stamped off/second generation Cajun Craze and Crumb Cake. The acorns are in stamped off/second generation Crumb Cake and stamped off/second generation Early Espresso. I love that this is a punch bundle, so it is really quick to punch out all of the leaves and acorns. Let’s be honest here, if this had been a die bundle, would I have made this exact project? That would be a firm ‘NO’. I have a busy life and I don’t have that kind of time.
The sentiment and the label are both from the So Sentimental Bundle, Gold Heat Embossed on Mint Macaron to blend with the really pretty paper I had chosen. To make the large element around the label I simply added some Stampin’ Seal to the back of the label, close to the edge, and added the punched element. For the outer layers I added a little liquid adhesive as this is much the easiest way to add the small elements at this point. Once I attached the ribbon across the card (see below) I added the label to the front of the card with lots of Dimensionals to give more adhesion.
As I mentioned, I had totally forgotten that there is a Ribbon Combo in this Suite, so, as I had decided on a Crumb Cake card base, I simply coloured our Gold Edged Ribbon with a Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend. The ribbon was wrapped around the paper and adhered to the back with Stampin’ Seal (I love this stuff!!). The bow is a separate piece of ribbon added with a few Glue Dots, just to keep my life simple. I added a Very Vanilla liner on the inside of the card with a marrow strip of the same design of patterned paper at the bottom.
