Creating Kindness Blog Hop – Art Inspiration. Welcome to my blog, especially if you have joined me on the Creating Kindness Blog Hop and have come all the way from Tanya in the USA. Our theme this month is Art Inspiration.
My project nods to the daughter of a friend of mine who has taken up painting since the Covid-19 Lockdown in the UK. Not only are her pieces amazing, but she is now selling them. Such an inspiration! This is an example of her work, almost all of which include black lines to suggest the image (and, yes, it is usually a naked woman) and some shapes with bright colours. It is this black with bright colour that I have taken for my project. If you want to see Sophie’s work, just click on the image and you will go to her Instagram account.
My project uses a couple of products that have carried over into the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue. Sweet Silhouettes is a great die set with a number of word dies, including ‘inspire’, which is perfect for today’s theme. I die cut this three times from Basic Black Card, which I had added some Adhesive Sheet to. This adhesive makes it so easy to adhere detailed dies, it basically turns your die cuts into stickers.
The Dandelion is from Dandelion Wishes. I partially inked it with Memento Tuxedo Black. To pick up on Sophie’s colours, I left the flying seed heads so and coloured each with a different colour ink, using the Brights Stampin’ Blends. I carried that through to the inside of the card too.
To finish the project off, once I had adhered the word, I added some Shimmery Crystal Effects on the top layer. This dries to a really wonderful shiny finish, but with flecks of glitter. Just the finishing touch I was after. Looking at it now and comparing it to the inspiration piece, I love that the flourish of the ‘p’ mirrors the curves in Sophie’s piece. To see exactly how I made it, why not take a look at my Video Tutorial.
