Coming Home Ferrero Rocher Table Gift. So, there I was in the wee small hours of the morning suffering from the most appalling cramp in both my legs when something came to me. I wondered if the houses in the Coming Home bundle are the right size for the sides of a Ferrero Rocher box. I know, a random thought, but if you have ever had leg cramp in the night, you will know that you really have to take your mind elsewhere. The leg cramps were bound to happen. I recently started running again, after months of not. I injured my back on holiday last September which stopped me running for about 2 months. There was no way I was going back to it in the middle of winter, so here I am, nearly 10 months later starting again.
There are 4 houses in the set of stamps and 6 in the dies, so in the morning I took a look at them and found one that could have been made for the job. Next, all I needed to do was work out exactly how I was going to get these to work. The slightly tricky part was that, while the base was a perfect size, the roof was going to be too wide. What I needed to do was work out how to have the house on 2 sides and something else on the other 2. It took a while, but I am there and ready to share EXACTLY how to do it.
The key is in the scoring. Or rather the key is in NOT scoring. I have put the Dimensions and scoring at the bottom of this post, so you can catch that there. The die for the house sits perfectly in the partial score lines for the sides of the box. You need to feel them slot into place and them keep them there (Washi Tape works for this). place the top cutting plate so the edge is only overlapping the roof, not the walls. Run this through the die cutter and you have the roof cut out. You need to do this on the side adjacent to the flap and the next but one to that.
Once the roofs are die cut you can cut between them using your trimmer (see the video for how to do this). Now you need to do your stamping and colouring. My strong recommendation is to do it this way round so you know you have die cut successfully before you spend time stamping and colouring. I chose to use Memento Tuxedo Black ink and Stampin’ Blends (I deal with the bleeding through a little later).
I wanted something on the other sides of the box, so on some I added die cut trees once the box was finished. On another I added the smallest house stamp straight on to the box. Having lots of these all lined up down the middle of a festive table would be so very cute, but don’t just think of these for Christmas. Oh, and while I remember, to hide the Stampin’ Blend bleed through, simply cut some extra houses, trim the edges and bottom a little and stick them on the inside. Simple!
Carrying on my ‘Not Just for Christmas’ mini series, these would be perfect to give your guests at a house warming. Or why not drop some in to a new neighbour to welcome them to their new home? There are are so many occasions you could use these for. I am pretty sure they would also fit any of the Lindor Chocolates too, but don’t quote me! I can’t eat chocolate, so I don’t tend to have a lot of it around!! Now I must make boxes with some of the other dies and see what I can get in those. I would love to have a real variety of houses on my Festive table, all holding different goodies. What are you going to put in yours?

Dimensions
I am going to start by saying that I am only providing Imperial dimensions for this project. I should add that I will be looking at 16ths of an inch, so please don’t panic. 16ths are the shortest of the Imperial markings on your Stampin’ Up! Trimmer.
For each ‘house’ you will need a piece of thick card cut 5-3/4″ x 4-1/16″ (I used Thick Whisper White, but our coloured card would work well too). with the short edge at the top, score at 1-5/16″. Turn your card by a quarter turn with the 1-5/16 towards you. The next score marks DO NOT go all the way to the top. You only score to approx 1-1/4″ from the top at 1-5/16, 2-5/8, 3-15/16 and 5-1/4″.
