Testing The New Adhesives – The Results! Do you remember that last week, when I was telling you about my packs of Retired Designer Series Paper being available to purchase. I also mentioned that I had made 5 little boxes using a variety of adhesives, including the 2 new ones. Well, today is the day for me to destroy them so I can tell you how each of them were holding after a few days. I had deliberately chosen this last weekend for the experiment because it was likely to be quite humid. Humidity can be the curse of adhesive, so it would be a good test. As they say, the results are in! And I have made a similar box using the winner!
Snail
This actually stood up better than I expected, but once I had destroyed all the other boxes, this was certainly the easiest to rip to pieces. As you know this adhesive is now retired, so the fact that it was the least effective is not really an issue.
Glue
This worked well, which I knew it would, and I would be very happy to continue to use this if needs be.
Tear & Tape
This, again, I knew would be good, because I have been using it over the past few months. It certainly was quite hard to destroy the box.
Seal
Now this was interesting. I could take the box to pieces, but what actually happened was that the adhesive split and was left on both pieces so it would have been quite easy to put back together again. If push comes to shove I would be very happy to use this for 3D items, certainly if I am using paper.
Seal+
Well, what can I say. This was almost impossible to take to pieces. I ended up ripping the card in more than one place. For me this is definitely the winner. I think this is Fast Fuse on Steroids. It is that strong. So, yes, this was the adhesive I used for the construction of my box today. I used Seal to adhere the paper, but it was Seal+ I used for the main work.
To see the results ‘as live’ and how I made the box, why not take a look at today’s video.
