Sending Sunshine on a Hot Summer’s Day. When I made this card the temperature in my Studio was about 30 Celsius, so I really needed something to help me cool down. What better than a cool beach scene?
I think the Sending Sunshine Stamp Set is one of the hidden gems in the Annual Catalogue. It is on page 111 and really is worth a look. Don’t think of it as a One Trick Pony, I can see this working really well with some of our other stamp sets AND for a real variety of projects. But of course, I had to start by using it in a fairly expected way. So a cool beach sunset scene it is.
The stamps are Photopolymer, so they make 2-step stamping super simple, but I have a few tips for getting the best result. First I suggest stamping the darker ‘Sea’ first as it is easier to line up something lighter onto something darker. If you think you are going to have trouble lining the 2 sea stamps up, then I would recommend you use a sticky note across the top of the first sea so that if you stamp the second one a little high you will still have a clean line.
To make the sun shimmer, after stamping in Mango Melody I blended a little of the same ink around the top of the sun image with a Sponge Dauber. Again a sticky note, but this time covering the sea, makes sure you only get the ink above the water line.
The sand is a VERY light touch of Sahara Sand applied with another Sponge Dauber. The video has some more tips for getting the blending at its best. To finish off the central image, I added clouds and some little green sprigs and texture. To finish the project off, I added a sentiment, some ribbon and some of the Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets.
