Having a Whale of a Time – Facebook Live 23rd June 2020 REPLAY. Wow I had a blast on my Facebook Live this week. I had decided to play with the Whale of a Time Suite. This is a Suite that in the catalogue did nothing for me, but because I was producing Paper Shares, I had to order a few packs. Well, I am a convert. This Suite is AMAZING and is not just for Children, it is for anyone who is a Child at Heart, or who needs a chuckle to brighten their spirits. We could all do with that at the moment! I made 3 cards, all of which used the Designer Series Paper as the main feature. I actually think it is a bit of a shame that the paper is so nice because it makes me want to only make 6 x 6 cards so I don’t have to cut into it, but I managed.
Die Cut Window
So, the first card includes a die cut window with the ‘waste’ fitting back into the space, but glued to the inside of the card. I used one of the dies from the Tasteful Labels set. It would have been a LOT easier if I had cut the paper to the size I had meant to. I did not intend to have a Pretty Peacock Mat, but as I cut the paper smaller than I intended I thought adding the mat was a good ides. Not so much! Trying to die cut through 2 layers of card and a layer of paper was a little tricky, but I made it work, just!
Fancy Fold Whale
My second card was more of a success. I had decided to make a fold back card, but with a full size mat so that it does not look like a fancy fold until you open it. The fold is really quite simple. All you need to do is cut half a sheet of card the short, fat way. Score it in the middle and then score the front at the quarter mark. You can see exactly what I mean in the video. The Whale is multi-coloured, simply by adding Pool Party, then Pacific Point and Blackberry Bliss all with a Sponge Dauber. I used the Rainbow Glimmer Paper as the mat for the sentiment. Stupidly I used the Starburst Punch, which has retired, so I would suggest the 2-1/4″ Circle instead. The inside of the card has some sea weed and coral, just for fun.
Fussy Cut Turtle
This last card is a fairly simple card to put together. The only difficult part was cutting into the paper to fussy cut a couple of larger turtles. It took a lot of bravery to do it. I added a stamped a Turtle in Blackberry Bliss too, and coloured it with some Stampin Blends once the ink was fully dry. A few sequins, and a sentiment on the inside, finished it off nicely.

I hope you enjoyed today’s cards and will look at the Whale of a Time Suite in a different light.
