Forever Fern for The Spot Challenge 115. Welcome back to my Inspiration Project for this week’s The Spot Challenge. This week we have a Theme of Clean and Simple Wedding. Click on the image to see the other Design Team Projects, and to enter your project.
I actually made my project for this about 3 weeks ago. It came together when I was working on something totally different. Although the project was wrong for that, but perfect for this Theme. It also ticks a monochromatic box for me, which is something I really enjoy.
The vast majority of the project has been made from Vellum Card layered up and die cut. The first, larger, mat is just a piece of Vellum, the smaller mat is also vellum, but has been run through the die cutter in the Subtle 3D Embossing folder. This gives an extra ‘something’ without detracting from the rest of the card. When you come to adhere this to the front of the card, use just a few Glue Dots. Because the Vellum is embossed, the Glue Dots don’t show through unless you know they are there!
Layered on top of the mat layers are a few Vellum Die Cuts using the Forever Flourishing Dies, specifically the ones that don’t match any of the stamps in the Forever Fern Stamp Set. The sentiment is from the Forever Fern Stamp Set, which you could add as a FREE item if you decided to join my Team of Sparkling Sunflowers this month.
The sentiment has been stamped with Versamark Ink and embossed with a mixture of Gold and Silver Embossing Powders to get a softer Champagne look. This then matches the Champagne Foil that the sentiment has been matted onto. Now, the Champagne Foil piece has had a bit of a fiddle to get it to the right size. I used the stitched rectangle that is included int he Ornate Layers Die Set, but it was too long. Not a worry, simply die cut the full piece and then layer the die back into the stitching at the point you want to cut it and run it back through the die cutter. If you are careful with how you layer up your cutting plates, you can cut just the end you want to shorten. Maybe a future Top Tip Tuesday?
I trimmed the sentiment piece to fit just inside the stitching on the foil, adhering it with some folded Mini Glue Dots behind the embossing. This whole piece had the vellum die cuts added behind using a combination of Dimensionals and Glue Dots. I then simply placed it towards the bottom of the card front. I left the inside of the card blank, which I often do if there is a sentiment on the outside and no other stamping to carry through to the inside.
The final touch was to add some Champagne Rhinestones, which have carried over to the new Annual Catalogue. That makes me VERY happy!
