Facebook Live Replay – Tuesday 9th June 2020 – Prized Peony and Ornate Peony. Well, that was a fun Facebook Live! We had a false start, which I have not bothered to splice onto the start of the long version. But, I am really excited that I have finally got my new WebCam set up working. Now all I need to do is work out how to transition from one camera to another seamlessly!! It would also be good if I could download an HD Quality recording of the Live, but it is only available in SD, so the quality is not great.
We started by looking at how to use the dies to build a Peony. It is really simple when you know how, but otherwise it looks a bit tricky. This really is a case of once you know how, you will wonder why you didn’t! But the result is so pretty. I can see myself making LOTS in different colours and with some sponging to add even more definition. I am so pleased I added the whole suite to my order, and you only need to use one Item Number to get it all.
My next 2 cards use the same layout, but with VERY different colours. The first keeps the soft tones of the Suite, using 2nd generation Gray Granite ink and the 2 smaller flowers to make my own background. The main flower is stamped in Basic Gray. Classic ink works well with our Stampin’ Blends, but you do need to make sure that it is fully dry before you colour. Just a few sweeps of Petal Pink, Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive and you have a stunning Peony. Generally I would die cut this before I coloured it, but to be sure that the ink was dry, I gave it the extra time. Add a heat embossed sentiment, a bit of ribbon and some of the stunningly pretty Faceted Gems and you have a great card.
Of course I had to have a go at a really bright alternative version. So I stamped the Peony in both Magenta Madness and Just Jade, adding some ink with a Blender Pen to get the colour. I fussy cut the flowers off the Magenta Madness version and stuck them on the Just Jade version for a really easy two tone flower. The card was finished off with the same sentiment, in Magenta Madness, ribbon and Enamel Dots, also in Magenta Madness, other than the centre of the larger flower, which had a Bumblebee dot added. The layout of the two cards is exactly the same, but the result is VERY different. And this is why making cards is just so amazing!! The same Stamp and Die Bundle can make such different projects. Of course, do remember that you could add this Bundle to your Starter Kit FREE, which would save you an additional £53!!
On the Live I did a comparison of the new InColor Inks and Blends. I did say I would share that in this post, but I think it would be worth a post all of its own, so will record a separate video, in better quality, with that comparison. Come back tomorrow (maybe!) for that.
I have listed the products I used a little further down the page. I have included some items that you may wish to look at, including Ink Spots in the 2 InColors I used, as well as the code for the entire Peony Garden Suite, just in case…..
