Facebook Live Replay – Tuesday 2nd June 2020. I am posting the Replay of yesterday’s Facebook Live a little earlier today, so don’t feel too thrown! It was a really mad session this week. I have invested in, yet another, webcam, which worked fine when I tested it yesterday, but this morning, for some reason, Facebook would not let me see the live stream on my laptop, after a few seconds it would just go blank. This was a little off putting and made me wonder if the camera was the issue. One day I will get to the bottom of it, but in the meantime, I reverted to using my mobile and the, somewhat unstable, WiFi.
As I had wasted an hour trying to sort the problem, my planning went out of the window, so I basically just went for it and made it up as I went along. Happily it seems to have worked. I chose to use the Tasteful Touches Stamp Set and Dies with the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper. Just to challenge myself even more, I decided to use the same sheet of paper to make a masculine and a feminine card. As it happens, they are almost using the same layout, but the finished cards are VERY different.
The first of the cards I made was a floral one. I simply stamped the flower image twice on Whisper White with Tuxedo Black and then coloured them with the Rococo Rose Stampin’ Blends Combo. One flower was coloured with the Dark Blend and one with the Light. The stamp has all the shading that is really needed, so I didn’t bother with any shading, which meant I ended up with 2 shades of flower – nice. Time for some fussy cutting, and then they were ready to be used.
Mounted on Rococo Rose Card and with the addition of a sentiment and some ribbon, there was little else to do to bring the card together. I did die cut the sentiment with one of the Tasteful Label dies, and backed it with another of the same die cut in Rococo Rose, cut along the middle and then offset behind the sentiment. The finishing touch was some simple Pearls and the flower stamped on the inside in Rococo Rose ink.
The more masculine card was a little more of a challenge. I think the wood grain is beautiful, but it is very dark. To lift it a little I stamped one of the ‘textures’ in Versamark a few times and then heat embossed with White powder. The sentiment was also heat embossed, having die cut a label from the Ornate Layers dies. I die cut the label from the middle of the Night of Navy Mat, after all, no one will know!! I did have to cut the label down a little, but did this by partially cutting the label again. This ticks one of the boxes from the list of requests on my Facebook Community Group.
I was clearly in the mood for fussy cutting, so stamped the foliage on Gray Granite with Early Espresso Ink, and cut out two of these. Then it was simply a question of layering everything up and then adding some Holiday Rhinestones. Of course I also stamped the fern on the inside of the card with 2nd generation Early Espresso.
I have to say, unless I knew, I would not know that these cards use the same basic supplies. I think, other than the layout, they are very different. What I did find was that, having limited myself to a fairly small selection of supplies, the cards came together really easily. I must limit my supplies more often. Clearly having too much choice just makes the decision making much harder and the card making much slower.
