Comfort & Hope on #SimpleStamping Saturday. Welcome back to my blog, and a more usual post. What a week it has been though. Last minute orders going in before items retired, followed by the excitement of the new catalogue launching and welcoming new Team members, who couldn’t resist the current joining offer.
But it’s Saturday, so I am here with another #Simplestamping Saturday project collection.
I have selected the Comfort & Hope stamp set, which is on page 88 of the new Catalogue. It is a great set, with some really useful sentiments, lots of texture images (which I love) and the cutest little clusters of sequins or rhinestones.
Simple and Quick
My first, simple and quick, project uses just 2 inks and a Very Vanilla note card and envelope. I felt the images would work well in warm, earthy tones, which work well with Very Vanilla. To get some extra shades from the ink pads I used some 1st and some 2nd generation stamping. Because our inks have a high percentage of dye, you can usually get 3 or 4 shades, especially with the darker colours.
It is generally the Casual option that will find me introducing full sheets of coloured card. If possible I try to limit my card just one colour family (plus Whisper White and Very Vanilla , and I managed it this time with. So, as I was already using colours from the Neutrals family.
I couldn’t resist a bit of fussy cutting, the cluster of fir cones were calling to me, so I gave in! I loved the look of these simply popped up with the very clever sequin/rhinestone stamps nestling round them. Aren’t they clever?
My final card is really very similar to the previous versions, but it includes more products and techniques. I stupidly forgot that we are no longer carrying the Copper embossing powder, but this could easily be switched out for the Gold instead.
I added some additional texture by using the parquet flooring stamp, as well as one of the new 3d embossing folders Textured Textile. The sentiment was crying out to be used with the Lovely Label Puck a Punch, this is perfect for layering smaller sentiments.
The final touch of texture was courtesy of the Linen Thread. I split the strands so I had a very fine layer, but it adds just enough texture without overwhelming the stamped images.
