Blossoms in Bloom Coloured Vellum Die Cuts. Welcome to another week and my Blog. Today I have a monotone card to share with you, including coloured vellum!! Please don’t spend time looking for coloured vellum in the new Annual Catalogue, you won’t find any. Or rather, you won’t find any, but you WILL find what you need to make whatever colour Vellum you need.
The Vellum is coloured really quickly and easily with a Stampin’ Blend. Simply cut your vellum to size and then run the edge of the brush tip end of your Stampin’ Blend across the vellum to cover the whole piece. I find that if I have missed an area, going back over it while the ink is still wet gives the best result. To be totally sure that you get a good coverage, I find colouring BOTH sides of the Vellum works really well.
That is about as difficult as this card gets. Now all you need to do is die cut the coloured vellum from the more solid die, being careful to make sure you fully cut it. You may find you need to rotate the die a couple of times to achieve, but it will cut.
The fine line die cut is cut from coloured card stock. To make it easier to adhere, when the time comes, that adding some of the Adhesive Sheets to the reverse of the card BEFORE you die cut. This extra layer will make it a little trickier to get a good cut. As with the vellum, keep feeding your sandwich through the die cutter a few times until it is fully cut.
Adhere the card to the vellum being a little careful not to get the veins of the larger leaves stuck to something at this stage. Now you can add some Mini Glue Dots to the revers of the vellum. I find that adding them to the centre of the flowers works well, fold a couple in half and add them to the smaller leaves to help keeps them in place. Add this to the Whisper White layer, which should be matted to the Purple Posy Piece. Once you have added a heat embossed sentiment and you are basically finished. Add some stamping to the inside of the card if you wish. To see the Magenta Madness card being made (no editing, I show you how to make this in real time), simply click on the video below. And that is it. Really not that difficult to make, just a little fiddly with the fine die cut. I hope you like the idea of colouring your Vellum with Stampin’ Blends. Liz, these are stunning cards. I love the colors using the Blossoms in Bloom. It is one of my favorite sets in the new catalog. Coloring vellum on both sides is a very clever and beautiful idea. Thanks for the inspiration. Enjoy your day!
Hilda, thank you so much for your kind comment. I am really enjoying using my Blends on Vellum, it is such a great way of adding an extra layer of colour, without it taking over the project. I think I will be using it a lot in the coming months. Have a great day, and Thank You again. Lx
