The Spot #109 – Not Yo’ Momma’s Card. Hmmm, I was really not sure how to tackle this Challenge Project, so I have to say I went with the easy option of making a card for a man. I know, probably a bit of a cop out, but I really was at a bit of a loss, and anyway, it gives anyone who wants to take part this as an option!

I decided to use up some of my Memories & More Cards, and in particular the Come Sail Away Memories & More Card. Now this is an admission, I have only used a handful of these cards so far, which is madness because they are so easy to use for the basis of a greetings card. Who am I kidding? You could use just these and get an amazing greetings card.
In fact these cards almost prove that point. The main feature is one of the designs just fussy cut out of a larger Memories & More card. I used one of the laser cut pieces as a mask to lay over the fussy cut piece and then spray with Rubbing Alcohol, Frost White Shimmer Paint and a few drops of Night of Navy Re-Inker. The finished effect is a really subtle pattern and just the right amount of glimmer. Not sure that the pictures pick it up very well, but in the video I think you can see it really well.
The mats have been run through the Plank Embossing Folder and then I rubbed a Sponge Dauber with Balmy Blue ink across it to help pick up the pattern. The Mat layer is also sprayed, but this time I added Sahara Sand Re-Inker and Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. Before adding the large sentiment piece I wrapped some Sahara Sand and Night of Navy Baker’s Twine around the Plank Layer and tied it in a bow, adding one of the Anchor Trinkets to the bow. The anchor is kept in place with a Mini Glue Dot.
The card base is Night of Navy, which sets off both the Whisper White and the Sahara Sand planking perfectly. I added the planking with Dimensionals to allow for the Baker’s Twine. As the sentiment is also added with Dimensionals, for the same reason, the card will need to be sent as a Large Letter in the UK. Let me know if you prefer the Whisper White or Sahara Sand version. I know which is my favourite, so let’s see if we agree.
