Kylie Blog Highlights Timeless Tropical. This evening I am taking part in Kylie Bertucci’s Blog Highlights again. This is a monthly event that Kylie kindly runs to help those of us working hard to spread the word about our businesses. The theme is the same every month, Thanks. On the subject of which, I would be VERY grateful if you could hop over to Kylie’s post and vote for my entry. The prize is to be part of a blog hop with Kylie later this month, which would be amazing to be part of. The link to vote is here:
I have grabbed the Tropical Oasis Suite and some foil to make this card. It was such fun making it, particularly doing the inlaid Copper Foil for the base of the Pineapple, I knew I wanted something in the gaps and had one of those ‘moments’. I hope you agree that the Copper works well against the Gold Foil.
I used Copper Embossing Powder on Gold Foil for the sentiment. To get a more raised result I did two layers of the powder. There are some areas that did not get embossed, but I don’t think it matters.
To attach the Copper inlay I added Tear & Tape behind the Gold Die cut and then cut a further fruit in Copper. To begin with the pieces would not move across. Never wanting to give up without a fight, I ran the two layers and the die through my die cutter again. The result was better than I could have hoped.
Not only did the pieces move across, but the embossing seemed clearer too. I am going to have to remember this for the future, particularly as the stamps and dies are carrying over, but are NOT Bundled. If you want this set, and it is gorgeous, then NOW would great time to order them and save 10%.
Before I leave you, Just a reminder that I would be thrilled if you could vote for my card over on Kylie’s Blog post. The link is here again for you:

I just love your card, Liz. The metallic combo is stunning — piña colada anyone?!
Can you explain exactly what you did for the bottom of the pineapple? I am not following your instructions! Thanks!
Sorry my instructions were not clear. Basically I die cut the bottom twice. Once in Gold and once in Copper Foil. I pushed all of the pieces out of the Gold one and replaced them with the ones from the Copper version. To make it easier to get them to stick, I added double sided tape to the back of the gold first, so all I had to do was line up the copper piece over the top and push the small pieces through. I hope that helps. Lx
Thank you for the explanation! Much clearer now!
Glad it helped. Lx
