Jar of Flowers for The Spot Colour Challenge. It is the middle of the day on a Tuesday, so it must be time for another The Spot Challenge. This week is a fantastic colour challenge. Just look at these colours!
You get to pick any 3 or ALL of them. Well I have gone for ALL of them and am featuring the Jar of Flowers Stamp set, but without a jar in sight. I probably need to apologise that I am using a lot of new products in this project, but they are just too nice not to play with! As well as the Stamp set I have also used one of the Greenery Embossing Folders (there are 2 in the set) and a few of the Flowers for Every Season Gems. Oops, I just realised I also used a sentiment from the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp set. Sorry!
The card is made from Vellum Card Stock and is cut specifically to be the right size for the embossed piece, so the dimensions are the same wherever you are. Take a look at them at the bottom of the post.
How to put the card together
But I am sure you want to see my card and know how I put the card together. I started by stamping the flowers on some Shimmery White Card using Memento Tuxedo Black. The tulip top piece is actually too wide for the stalks, but just go for it and make sure the top of the stalks lines up with the bottom of the flowers. Colouring is simple, just pull your Stampin’ Write Markers and colour how ever you wish. Because I used the Shimmery White card, there is a little more ‘movement’ with the ink, so you can actually blend the colours a little. This is how I got the shading on the Tulips.
Once everything is coloured you will need to fussy cut the whole piece out. This is when you sort out the top fitting the bottom, simply trim the flowers so that they fit the stalks. Now wrap a piece of the Braided Linen Trim around the join in the stamping and tie in a knot, trim the ends and then fray them.
Cut a piece of Vellum the same size as the Greenery Embossing Folder (see below) and emboss it, cut a piece of Whisper White the same size for the inside of the card. Adhere the stamped piece at an angle on the embossed vellum. Hide some strips of adhesive behind this and then add some glue dots to the back of some of the embossing. I found that if you fold a glue dot in half they fit into the leaves well and are pretty hidden. Adhere a few gems to the front of the vellum and then add some Wink of Stella to the raised are of the embossing too.
Heat emboss the sentiment on a scrap of vellum with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder, fussy cut this and then add it to the front of the card using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. Add the Whisper White layer to the inside of card using more Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive, once it is dry it will be hard to see this through the vellum.
