You Always Deliver – Thank You. We are living in strange times across most of the world and, by all accounts, this is unprecedented. We have had pandemics before, but the speed this is spreading seems to be the main surprise. Is this a result of the say we now travel across the world without a second thought? Maybe, but in the UK we are now living a very different life, one in which we are relying on our Key Workers to keep us safe and well.
The NHS workers are doing an amazing job and I take my hat off to them. They really are in the front line. But they are not the only people who are exposing themselves to a higher risk of contracting this virus. There are all the people who keep us fed, from the farmer, to the truck drivers and all the way to our shop staff. The people who deliver post and parcels to individuals are also in the front line. There have been scenes around the world of people applauding the work that our Health workers, but what about all the others? As I write this the UK did include them in the latest public display of thanks, and quite right too. But what else can we do to show our appreciation?
As far as I am concerned, there is one very simple way. Give them a card thanking them for the work they are doing. I now carry a selection in my handbag so I can hand these out to anyone who is in the front line. In the past couple of weeks I have handed out quite a few to shop workers (let it be said, I am only shopping when I REALLY need to!), and the response has been amazing. I can see just how much such a simple act can mean to the recipient.
Today’s cards have been made with our UPS drivers in mind. Across the world they are still delivering parcels and I know I am so grateful for that, it means that them working keeps my small business going. Without them how would I be able to sell craft products? How would they get to my wonderful customers who are so generously supporting my small business? The very least we can do for all these amazing people is let them know how grateful we are for the work they are doing.
I hope this has inspired you to make a handmade card for the people around you who are helping to get us all through these difficult times. I appreciate that this is not a ‘normal’ post from me and that I have not talked about how to make the card; the video will do that for me. There comes a time when we need to stop thinking about ourselves and think about others, for me, this is that time. I am safe and healthy, I have enough food, heat and lighting, but only because of what others are doing. Let’s all show our appreciation and give them a deserved ‘Thank You’!
