#SimpleStamping Saturday Beautiful Moments. Did you see the card I made using the Beautiful Moments Stamp Set on my Facebook Live earlier this week? You can take a look at it HERE. I am such a convert to this set, it really was not going to be on my list of sets to get, but I am so pleased I did. I was lucky enough to get it FREE because I did some work for Stampin’ Up! and got to do some free shopping. So lucky! I also got a sneak peek of one of the new stamp sets coming in June. Sorry, I can’t show it to you yet, but it is really pretty.
As today is Saturday, so it is time for a #SimpleStamping Saturday trio of projects. One design three ways, Quick/Easy, Casual and Avid. The Quick/Easy version is just some simple stamping in Tuxedo Black and then a little adult colouring. In the video you will see the 2 versions of this card I made. One uses the larger Watercolor Pencil Set in the Annual Catalogue, the one I make on the video uses the second assortment. Both are great, but there are pluses and minuses with each, so the best idea would be to have both sets. As ever, this project is made on one of our Note Cards & Envelopes, this week in Whisper White.
For the stepped up version I introduced full size card in a few colours, some layers, Stampin’ Blends and a few Basic Pearls. I wanted to use bright colours for the buckets, but softer colours for the children’s dresses. Light Highland Heather was an easy choice for one of the dresses, but I was surprised that Light Pineapple Punch worked so well, I even managed a few shadows in the Dark Pineapple Punch. The buckets are Pineapple Punch and Poppy Parade. I decided not to colour all around the children. It works well leaving the white, with just a hint of the sand above and below. Do you agree?
The next version introduces dies and embossing folders. The colouring and layout are identical, I simply stamped the birds on the white layer and then ran it through the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. The white piece for the children was die cut using the largest square from the Stitched Shapes dies. In the previous version I simply cut a piece of white to the same size as this die.
In both the Casual and Avid versions I have extended the sand dune simply by using the thicker of the 2 Journaling Pens. This helps to being the cards together. Such a simple technique, but so effective. Do you agree with this too? Have you every tried it? I would love to hear from you.
Did you notice that on the Avid version I did not colour into the area between the stitching and the edge. This helps to frame the area. The only stamping that goes over the stitching is the sand dune, this helps it tie into the background. Take a look at the video for more information on how I put this together.
Did you enjoy that? I hope you did, and as luck would have it, today is really sunny here in South Oxfordshire, so it is even more appropriate. As we are in a fairly tight lock down in the UK at the moment, we are being asked to not go to the beach, or any other ‘beauty spot’ that is away from our local area. The latest news is suggesting that we are beginning to see a positive effect from the lock down, so let’s not blow it now, let’s do what we are being asked to do and STAY HOME and STAY SAFE.
