Hold on to Hope this Good Friday. Welcome back to my Blog, thank you for joining me today, Good Friday. In the UK, and across many other countries, this is the start of a 4 day weekend. Generally speaking, you can guarantee that any Bank Holiday in the UK is greeted with bad weather, but it looks like this weekend is going to buck the trend. The forecast for South Oxfordshire is wall to wall sunshine for today and tomorrow, with the temperature hitting 25 C/77 F. This would be good in June or July, but in early April it is amazing! That said, please remember that during this strange time, we are being asked to stay at home and not all leap into our cars to go to the coast or some other beauty spot!
My card for today is quite a traditional card for Good Friday, featuring a cross and a simple sentiment. I had been tempted to make it a little fancier with more layers and die cuts, but for me Good Friday is all about the Cross. In normal times our local Parish Church would hold a ‘stations of the Cross’ service, walking around the village (weather permitting) and having appropriate Bible Readings and Prayers. Not this year.
The original card I made used Soft Suede to ink around the clear embossing, but I thought it turned out a little too dark, so on my video today I have switched that out for Crumb Cake, which was a much better result.
The Cross is cut from Copper Foil, which was then embossed using the Plank 3D Embossing Folder, just to give it some texture. I mounted this on three layers of Early Espresso card, cut from the mat (waste not, want not!).
The sentiment (seems the wrong word for this) is stamped on Very Vanilla and heat embossed in Copper, to tie in with the Cross. I thought the banner looked too pristine, so added some ink to the edges with the same Sponge Dauber I used over the leaves.
