Facebook Live Tuesday 31st March 2020 – Replay. Did you manage to catch my first Coffee & Card Facebook Live event? It was a bit of a challenge, thanks to Facebook, but after a false start, it seems to go OK. I have learnt a lot about the technology as a result, so with luck the next one will be a LOT better with less freezing. That said, the people who joined me seemed to have fun, so why not take a look?
I made 3 projects during the event and have included images here for you to see. Two of the projects were planned, one was made on the cuff, but I think they all turned out OK. One word of warning. As this was Live on 31st March, the Pleased as Punch Designer Series Paper was still available then as part of the Coordination Release. That is now over, so the paper is not available, but you can still make the card by either stamping on card or other Designer Series Papers.
I am particularly pleased with how the Beautiful You card turned out. I was showcasing two techniques with this card. First is Paper Piecing, which involves stamping on patterned paper and then fussy cutting the area you want and adhering it to another stamped image. I used this for the dress and hat on each of the dancers.
The other technique was Mirror Stamping. This is an old technique and one I have shown before, quite a while ago. You need a slick surface that will still hold ink where it is put; a Silicone Mat is ideal for this. Stamp the image you want to mirror onto the Mat and then lay the card or paper you want the image on, over the top and carefully press the paper WITHOUT MOVING IT. When you lift up the image should have transferred. You will find this works really well on smooth Whisper White, but it may be a little feint on Patterned Paper. For this card I simply drew over the stamped lines with a thin black pen. Now you can stamp the ‘standard’ image as normal. Happily it worked will on the Live!
The final card (well actually the first, but whose counting!) uses the Label Me Bold Stamp set and just three colours to make a bright and cheerful Thank You card. This is really quick to make, but so effective and I know that it will be well received by anyone you give it to. I am keeping a bunch of Thank You cards in my handbag so I can hand them out to any Key Worker I come across.
I would love you to watch the recording (now available on YouTube) and let me know what you think. As I mentioned, the quality was not amazing thanks to the WiFi, but I think I have worked out how to improve that. I have edited out the first 5 minutes when I was not very complementary about Facebook or the person who hacked my FB Account, so it should be reasonably safe to watch it all!
The next Facebook Live will be next Tuesday at 11 am UK time. I am also planning a Live on YouTube later this week, or over the weekend. Make sure you have subscribed to my YouTube Channel to be notified about that!
