Botanical Prints Product Medley for The Spot. Hello again, you get me twice today, is that good or bad? Well this is my creative post for the day and is for a Challenge Group. I am on the Design Team for The Spot Challenges, we are Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from across the world. We want to help to keep you creative, and what better time than during this current situation to keep our creative juices flowing. Creativity has been shown to improve mental health, so why not give it a go. Our Challenge this week is to create a card using this sketch as your starting point.
I have taken the sketch fairly literally, but I know some of the others will have simply used it as a jumping off point. This is the great thing about a Sketch, it is up to you to decide just how strictly you follow it. You can take a look at the other designs, and enter yours, simply by clicking on the image of the sketch.
I broke out the Botanical Prints Product Medley for today’s challenge, although I did add some additional colours for the stamped images. I wanted these to be obvious, but not too obvious, so the pastel shades are perfect.
The main layer is Old Olive that has been embossed with one of my favourite 3D Embossing Folders, Layered Leaves, it give the perfect amount of texture so the mat is not plain, but not ‘busy’. The a strip of Terracota Tiles card before adding the Designer Series Paper.
The three florals are all the same, simple stamping, colouring and die cut. I added these with a single Dimensional to lift them away from the very ‘busy’ paper. This really helps to balance the two elements out without one taking over. The sentiment is also from the Botanical Prints Product Medley. I followed the black and white imagery and heat embossed the sentiment in white on Basic Black card. This is also popped up on some dimensionals.
The final addition is a trio of Rhinestones to help pull the focus to the middle of the card. I love these little design features, they can make such a difference to the final project.
The final element was to stamp on the inside and then add a narrow piece of the same Designer Series Paper, adding a few elements from the outside, really helps to make the inside feel like part of the whole.
