Above The Clouds for ICC #067. Today’s Inspire Create Challenge post is a colour Challenge, and what looks like a strange combination, until you realise the colours all appear in the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper. As a result, there are quite a few Design Team Projects that use paper from that pack. I have avoided it so you have some other inspiration to look at. But what it does highlight is, if you are looking for colours that work together, why not look at the colours in some of our paper?
My card would work very well for the men in your lives, which is always a bonus. For the first time in a long time, I have broken out the Embossing Paste. I think I would use it more if I had running water in my Studio, but I don’t, so I have to plan to use the paste and bring a basin of water across. The nearest running water I have is a garden tap, which is VERY cold, so not ideal.
I used the Cloud Mask from the Party Pattern set, it is the perfect background for the Above the Clouds hot air balloons. Because we live in South Oxfordshire, which is quite flat, we often see hot air balloons floating across the sky. Not at the moment of course, but it is a usual sight for us, and always a welcome one. There is something so tranquil about seeing them scud across the sky, certainly a sign of good weather.
The balloons are coloured using Stampin’ Blends. It is always good to decide where you think your light source is coming from so you know where to have highlights and shadows. For me the light is coming from the right, and slightly above the balloons. You may notice that the shadow on all the balloons reflects this. In the video I show you how to get that effect.
All of the balloons are adhered to the card using Dimensionals, other than the ones on the inside of the card. I like to add something to the inside of the card to help to bring the inside and outside a little more cohesion. Often I will only have the sentiment on the outside of the card, but usually I add a stamped image instead, just to reflect the outside.
And did you spot the Wink of Stella on the Balloons? I love to add a little extra sparkle, especially at the moment! Now don’t forget to submit YOUR project to the Inspire Create Challenge group. You never know, you might win!
