The Spot #104 Timeless Tulips. I think Spring Really did arrive in the UK last week. We had sunshine in South Oxfordshire pretty much the whole week, just in time for the start of Self Isolation here. Happily that means that I can spend some time in the garden. There is a quote going around at the moment that says by the time the Self Isolation finishes we will all have really well kept gardens, and our natural hair colour!
It seems appropriate that this week’s The Spot Challenge should have the theme of ‘Spring Fling’ (to see the projects the other Design Team Members have to inspire you, click on the image above). To embrace this I broke out my Timeless Tulips and the matching Punch (buy them together, using the Bundle Code, and save 10% on the total cost). I wanted to make a 3D card with the Tulip, so this was the perfect time to give it a go.
I started by stamping the stem and the leaves to get the placement right. Next I then simply stamped four of the large tulip (the one that coordinates with the punch), using Mango Melody as the main colour, but adding some Poppy Parade with a Sponge Dauber to get the multi colour look that I love so much in Tulips. You need four of these punched out. Using the Poppy Parade Sponge Dauber, add some extra colour to the edges so there is no white showing.
Score down the middle of each tulip head and then fold them in half. Try to get these as close to in half as possible and then adhere them together so that the left of one sticks to the right of the next (back to back). Just to make sure there is no white showing once they are stuck together, go round the edges with the Poppy Parade again. Now adhere this to the card using. To balance the dimension of the flower head, I stamped an extra leaf on a scrap of paper and punched this out. I added ink to the edges with another Sponge Dauber, added glue to the bottom of the reverse of the leaf and a Dimensional to the top before sticking the leaf to the card.
The sentiment, which is in the same stamp set, is a simple ‘hello’ stamped in Poppy Parade and then punched with the Classic Label Punch (see the video for how to resize this). Layered onto Mango Melody and Poppy Parade card, I added this to the card with Dimensionals. The final touch was to add some Gold Glitter dots and to stamp on the inside of the card.
I hope you enjoyed my Spring Fling Project. Why not think about what you would make for this theme and then enter the Challenge. We would love to see your projects, simply add your image to the Challenge post HERE.
