Power of Hope – The Spot Challenge #101. Welcome back to the second Challenge for The Spot. This is a new Challenge Group that hopes to inspire you every week with a different challenge. This week we have a sketch for you, and what a great sketch it is. There are so many ways of playing this.
Like some of the other Design Team members, I have taken a little bit of liberty with the sketch, but that is kind of what a sketch is for, it is a starting place. I decided that my card would be a gate-fold, to mirror the blocks in the sketch. I have used an oval in place of the circle and my strip goes across the whole circle. So what is it, well here you go.
I have used the Power of Hope Bundle from the Sale-a-Bration products. This is a Level 2 item, but is amazing. That 3D Stone Embossing Folder is worth the entry on its own. There are so many ways to use it, but just how fantastic is it on foil card? The next picture should give you more of an idea how this reflects the Sketch, it also show that Embossing Folder at its best.
To get the focal images I stamped the Geisha in Versamark and heat embossed her with Gold Emboss Powder, then cut a mask from a sticky note to cover her up before stamping the temple, also in Versamark. When you remover the mask and cover the image with Embossing Powder, you may find that it wants to stick where the mask had been. If this happens, simply brush it off with a soft brush before heat embossing. The sentiment is also heat embossed, but rather than the Real Red I used behind the focal piece, I used a scrap of Gold Foil and then added some Red Rhinestones to fill the gap to the right of the stamping.
The focal point fitted in the largest scalloped Layering Oval, so I used that and the largest plain Oval to die cut them out. These are then adhered together and, the left side only, is stuck to the left front of the card. I needed something to finish off the inside of the card, so stamped three of the trees in Real Red across the bottom of the White mat. Just what it needed. Please hop over to the Challenge page on The Spot Website, just click the sketch at the top of the page, or the button below. Then enter the challenge and show us how you would interpret the sketch.
